19th August 2020 - A visit from Unkle Jimmy

Thought for the day :"Condoms are not completely safe – my friend was wearing one and got hit by a bus."

Day started with a lot of rain again, and so not a lot of achievement today really.

Susie managed to put the new perches up in the extra Chicken House and the 41 Girls are settled into their new roost for the night - thought they took some catching. All tucked in for tonight and will be let out with Cedric and Snowball tomorrow. Duster, the other local girl, is brooding and has not really budged from the nest box for the last couple of days. Eggs are in the incubator thought and we will see if any of the local eggs hatch out. If so we will let Dusty try to raise them.

We had a visit this afternoon from Unkle Jimmy and Ange (Curious Pastimes Director and old friend). Now Unkle Jimmy is a woodworking genius and does all the builds for Curious Pastimes. We are trying to interest him in a working holiday to assist with the build on Cabins - though this evening Susie has seen a good value Yurt with base .. Hmm! Also raised the we idea of putting down decking base and fixing bell tents or similar would make a good short term option for additional camping in the lower quarter.

Gave them the full guided tour of the property and we found a path leading down to the end of the property and found our boundary for the first time and the old Leat that forms part of the boundaries as well. There is a lot of shrubbery to clear down that end - I think we will leave until the winter cuts it back before we try anything..

Susie smelled tobacco by the Rhododendron gallery seat ..  Watch this space!

Susie painted one of the bedside cabinets and it looks great - the other one can be done tomorrow.

I took a trip up to Brynhoffnant to the garage/supermarket and pumped the tyres on VCM (my mother's old car). About time really - they were all about 10-12 !! Well she does not get much use at the moment.
Gave her a run up to Vic's again to check that he was eating and seems to be managing, though the flat is very hot and he could do with drinking more...

So another day done and it is raining again.

About time for a glass of Chateau 41 .. We will be brewing our first fermentation of Ffynon Frolics - a White I believe, in the next few days... (The royal "we" of course - I am not trustworthy!)

Cheers !
