20th August 2020 - A day at home, Woodworking and Pizza

Thought for the day:" For years I was against organ transplants. Then I had a change of heart."

So - took a tree down today with the assistance of Stuart and logged it and stripped for the kindling.
In fact we were descended on (in a good way!) by two families - the Keens and the Coops

Seems that they enjoyed as much as we do ...
They were aiming to go water jumping at Cenarth but the water was far too high
Our own river is well up in depth ..

Meanwhile a close look into the window shows our resident elf reading..

Did a bit of woodwork today again - converting the computer desk into a bespoke work area, cutting back the bits that were in the way of my knees and I have much more room at the desk - and a little work area as well and am far more comfortable.

Chickens have all roamed together today and we do not seem to have any problems. We shall see where they want to go to bed tonight to see how they have really settled.
Our spring is very high - perhaps a foot deeper than normal - such that the dragon is almost submerged - the middle is under water !!   but it still looks good.

So - Pizza for dinner tonight - so I had better head off to the kitchen ...

With luck I will share a drink with myself... Which sadly would not have happened all the time due to this day in history ..

On 20th August 1881, The Sunday Closing (Wales) Act was passed. It prohibited the sale of alcohol on a Sunday in Wales.
This was the first Act of Parliament in the United Kingdom since the 1542 Act of Union whose application was restricted only to Wales.
William Gladstone's Liberal government passed the act which would change the culture and politics of Wales. It had been sponsored by the Welsh nonconformists in the Liberal party, such as Lloyd George and was not repealed until 1961.

Much of Wales was still dry when I was in Aberystwyth in 1973 - 76

We had to drive to the border to get a drink!!

Cheers !
