31st March 2022 - A walk in the sun - after the snow

Thought for the day :" If Lawyers are disbarred and Clergy defrocked, then Air Conditioner installers are deducted"

Was snowing last night as I went out and temperatures were low - possibly near to freezing, but as the day started (well by the time I got up!) it was clear blue skies and sunshine thought to be fair the temperature was still very low....

Had a walk with the dogs ...

And so , this afternoon I hit the "island and  cleared a lot of the brambles that have stopped us accessing the area...

This place just gives and gives.

Cleared this fallen tree archway that will be a key image in this area which I think will be available for camping in the future..

took a short video ...

And so March finishes and tomorrow will be April 1st ...

Last year seemed like an April Fool joke - with a life style change that was totally unexpected,

As we came out of the pandemic and started back to "normalcy" I do not believe anyone thought that we would be facing a real war in the civilised geography of the Europeans Continent ...

There seems to be no "normal" to talk of these days ...

30th March 2022 - Tavern Games

So, a rainy day for a change. Garden needs it I suppose and gave us a rest from the work in the garden.

Susie resorted to her sewing room to finish some blouses and skirts for a friend at LARP and I got some more pallets and some  mixed corn and layer's pallets and walked the dogs.

Seemed to fill the day ...

In other news... 

Seems we need one of these for the Tavern...

Thought I would record this here as an instruction manual

Going to have to put together a wall chart or spreadsheet for bookings ..

People are beginning to ask to visit which is great 

No timing for the Ger / Yurt or the telegraph poles yet..

29th March 2022 - New Toys, benches and Peacocks...

Said good bye to Ms P today as she had a 4 1/2 hour journey home and had guests for dinner - how bad planning was that ?? But we had Chris and Vicky call in for tea in the afternoon after walking the Preseli's.

Walked around the grounds and a new toy arrived in the form of a 470kg trailer for moving "stuff" around the garden which has a simple hook up for the John Deer. Rather please - it is a very robust trailer and should assist us when the Yurt arrives..

Was heavy so I decided to put it together on the road - rather than carry it around to the front of the house, and while I was doing so the DPD driver reversed up the road to deliver the new bench for the fallen trunk .. So once it was all constructed - used it to carry the bench to its place..

Will be a nice place to sit and look at the springs...

On that matter - we apparently will not have a Yurt it is a Gur..

A Mongolian tent called a ger. A yurt you comes from Russia or Kazakhstan or Turkey.

And Fabio is displaying well again ...

Looks as thought the weather may be changing - it is very misty this evening and the temperature is dropping - may have some rain on the way ...

28th March 2022 - Spring Cleaning and Maiden's Cream

Susie cleared the spring - doing a little Spring Cleaning !!!

27th March 2022 - Grass Cut - Flowers Blooming

Having watched some videos last night about how to use the John Deer sit on mower - I took the machine out today and cut the lawns to a reasonable length .. That meant that I had to get the hand petrol mower out to cut the fishing stand and grass area below the greenhouse... and then work out how to cut the slope - and though I managed to cut most with the power petrol mower it was the electric hover mower that finished the job and probably may have been a good idea for the rest as it was very hard work getting up the hills - but the grass was very long and it will not require it every week ..

But happy with the result...

all looking fairly clear...

And the azaleas are beginning to bloom - so time for a new picture for the house ..

Painted the fence by the front gate - the one to stop Toby deciding to take a walk,  put up a tray ledge in the greenhouse for Susie to plant her seeds...

All in all a reasonable day - Pilgrim arriving this evening

26th March 2022 - Tunnel Clearance and Lawn Cutting

And so the task today was to see if we could cut the lawn, and to do that it was necessary to clear enough room to get the 42" cutter wheel of the John Deer along the "tunnel".

Decided that the stage area was probably the best place to store some of the boxes while I sort the rest out... and this turned out to be mainly the folding chairs and some crates of iron works, some safes which I do not know if they will work properly...

A days work in the sun - and it was very warm today working int he beer garden.

But we had a nice interruption when Ruby, a small dog that has a walk down our lane with a woman sadly I have forgotten her name - but she had her son with her whose name was also Toby - so they came in and had the full tour of the gardens and I must say that I was quite impressed myself. We are working so hard that sometimes it is difficult to remember what we have achieved.

And so this is the record for today....

And so we have a passage way through .....

Meanwhile Susie has been working on the banks by the patio and has planted her pampas grass, and has cleared the pathways - and all is looking good in the sun...

And the lawns have had their first cut of the year - I shall give them a second cut tomorrow - though I want to download an instruction booklet as it is all guess work at the moment and I am not sure that I am doing it properly... The first run around I had not worked out how to drop the cutter so it cut at about 5" which was actually quite a good idea for the first run around. It goes very well and is comfortable to sit on though a little scary on the slopes until I found that you can take the foot off the accelerator!"

25th March 2022 - Yurts and John Deer

Last day with Jimmy for this week so we did the "5 a day" barrow loads of grit to pave the paths - when I say we - I of course mean Jimmy did!!

Emptied the Duck pond and refilled as Toy was getting used to playing in the stagnant water.

Put the holes in place for the telegraph poles to extend the Peacock enclosure and the earth was soft enough to go three feet down without trouble - if only the ground for the yurt had been the same !!

Built an A frame beer garden table bench by the Yurt so we have somewhere to sit down there and sepnt a pleasant 1/2 hour listening to the stream flowing..

Susie finished the patio area overgrowth and had some plants delivered including my Passion Flower that is going onto the main arcade.

Also had my John Deer delivered a dream of a mower !!   though at the moment that just means that I have to clear the tunnel to allow a passage down to the grass..   Ho Hum .. That will be my work for the next few days!"

Toby enjoyed the Yurt Platform - he loves to stand up on platforms - the stage and the patio...

Cleared some more of the stream area onto the glade on the Island, and Susie took down the blue pipe fencing around the Tamarisk - with a view to setting some basket weave fencing with willow strands ...

In other news - fuels hit over £1.80 a litre today - saw this picture

Just going to fill up the car ...

24th March 2022 - Yurt Platform Completed

And so the Yurt Platform was completed today ..

And Susie cleared the Grass bank...
