3rd July 2026 - Garden Strimming and Lawn Cutting

Thought for the day :"I have a pet tree. It is like a pet dog but the bark is quieter."

Did some work in the Romany Caravan next door and took some photos for Charlotte to see what needs to be done strimming the main way .. But the meadow is cut and the fairy lights are working again and switched on ...

Meanwhile on my land - cut the lawns and cleared the grounds to the lower quarter 
Strimmed the main lawns and used the bit mulcher on the waterfall and the pontoon 

Luckily visitors arrived to allow me to take the rest of the day off

Tasks for the day:

Trailer had to be emptied of the pallets and the Crimson Moon Road signs that had been there wince last week  - once empty :

To Sarah's for the remainder of the short poles for the river bank supports 

Picked up the whelping box that we are turning into a brooding box for the peachicks

Create a proper wire mesh top for the top to stop rat incursion  

Move Nancy's Margee under cover and stack all the poles up 

Collect the interior door that we will use to put on the chicken run to replace the current door

Collect aluminium fruit cover from Capel Iwan and bring back - think that we can use one section as the door to the aviary - and the rest will be used to support the aviary frame 

Not much to show for a day's work but it is another nibble at the elephant

Susie planted out her beans - hopefully this, the third attempt, will prove more successful and they will grow this time without being eaten ..

Susie off to Nancy's tonight for an overnighter and is going fishing tomorrow from Saundersfoot

29th June 2026 - Lost Pea Hen and retail therapy

A sad morning 

Got up to find that Gina had been taken by a fox. Fabio is fine, but very distressed and calling out.

Lots of feathers everywhere and it seems to have tunnelled under the  fence. Not sure how it got her out of the aviary.

Put some logs over the gap and hopefully we have plugged the access 

But the flowers are still blooming

Did some retail therapy.

Went to Dyfed Men's Wear and bought a lightweight dark suit for Masons, and for smart but cooler.

Also went to Charlie's and bought replacement sandals for Mythodea, and some new training shoes. Paid more than I have in my life for a pair of shoes ! Still less than most but a lot for me.

Tried the new gun a few times but not hit anything yet.

28th June 2026 - Sunday Morning coming down

Thought for the day :"Surprised to hear Vegans criticising people's eating choices. Didn't expect another Spinach Inquisition.."

Took advantage of a long lie in this morning - haven't done that for a long time! 

Still no sign of Mr Muskovy and Mrs Muskovy, but we still have one left.

Too hot to take the dogs out until the evening - and had to water all the fortress tops with the hosepipe.

Started playing with the air pistol as Susie finally put it together for me - spent an hour trying to get the sights calibrated - it may be just that I am rubbish !!

Garden still flowering well

Having problems with the downstairs water system which continuously is overflowing and not sure why the stop cock is not switching things off 

Seems it is a combination venting boiler and should work fine - thinking it may be due to the thermostat in the solar input - but not really sure 

Fiddled with it and it stopped - but started again before we went to bed - so can't be due to the solar as it is not heating the water in the evening.   Ho Hum.

27th June 2026 - Cut some lawns - still very hot - but rained

Dodged the rain showers and walked the dogs up the Donkey Trail and decided to take a few photos of the Summer fields..

After Dinner when it got a little cooler, popped next door to do the grass for them 

 

Tris and Emm head off to Nancy for the remainder of the weekend
