31st August 2013 - And another Month drifts by....

Saturday. 1030am. Cup of tea drunk and onto the diet coke already. Reviewed the facebook messages and reviewed a blog from a few days back..   Cup of tea for Susie in bed and the "colonials" are not yet stirring.
A long day yesterday around Llanthony Priory and the beautiful drive over the Black Mountains from Llanthony to Hay on Wye. Pictures will follow (out of order as they are not yet processed), but for the moment it is a moment to review the month before the hectic schedule of September starts.

Of Bertha, and Buffy the Bothy...  Well this has proved to be a great success. Journey to Germany to proved the tent concept came out very well. Then the set up with Bertha as stand alone cooking and sitting tent, with the awning and the Bothy for the 60-40 party worked very well.

Of Boxes and Basements: This has been the biggest step forward. We found the Garden room and bar under the stairs, and painted and spruced up. Boxes still need tidying in the garage as the system fell apart a little in the closing stages of the clear up - but progress was definitely made. Gin and tonic in the bar has proved a wonderful evening closure on a few occasions.

Of celebrations and simple stuff. The 60-40 party was a great success - enough to plan for a 61-41 next year, and it seems that there are many who would like to come and share the quiet that is the Lower Henllan Farm and the fields of the Jude and Ant Fest. The house is cleared and suitable for visitors, with Chrissie and Paul staying with us, and as such, we can consider ourselves in a position to get the estate agent in at last.
Sadly our farm in Conwyl Elfed has gone - so we will have to look elsewhere, and the house opposite, allbeit that it was smaller than ours - only went for £155K which is disappointing. But we can celebrate another stage in the plan.

Of Plots and Plotments. The deaf centre ground opposite is coming under control, which is more than can be said for the sweet potato squash thingies that are suffocating the garage roof as they climb like trifids. The back garden is as lush as Eden and as full of fruit. Even have the two fully red-all-the-way-through apples that are on our special apple tree (gift from Gemma and Matt after their wedding). So Susie has proved the concept that anything can grow anywhere, including the peppers that finally had to be moved from the sewing room to the new greenhouse before they invaded the bathroom as well.

So as a review of the month- everything in the garden seems grand, in all senses of the word.

And as a finale to the month, I discovered that Cello and Guitar work very well together, when the cellist is Emma...   despite the crowd noise - here is the "Viinshar Song" recorded at renewal...

So now - back to photographs , and planning for September.....

26th August 2013 - Nice to be away - but nicer to be home ...

A week away in the Bothy is a pleasure. But after the long haul home, it is nicer to be in your own bed.
Time to review a few of the pictures of the weekend, though on this occasion I did not take any of my own, so will be dependent upon everyone else's recollections.

And this year the Bardic army, and the erin Navy in Particular were in fine voice. Really wished I had got a recording of them accompanying "Race you to Valhalla" which certainly sounded good from where I was....
I seem to have moved on from the times when I could not sing with others, and now rather like the idea of a backing group!!!
The Crimson Moon proved itself able to run under its own steam, and though it may not be to everyone's taste, I rather like the extra lighting the Mick brings to the Moon. I think it gives a rather special atmosphere, and I still enjoy playing in there...

Though not all photographs are kind.. I generally shave every day - but this photographer caught me before my ablutions... yes it is Diet Coke in the Tankard!!!
But all in all - not a bad image....

There are those who wonder why anyone should want to dress up in strange clothes and pretend to come for distant lands and play a game like LARP.... I agree.. I can think of no good reason .. unless...

And so I leave you with the summary from the BBC News MAgazine.. Though talking about Lorien Trust and the Gathering - the principles are the same and the hobby is still growing...

25th August 2013 - Back from LARP and Loving it

An excellent weekend with friends and the Crimson Moon at the annual fest of the Curious Pastimes Live Action Role Play group, and Vollsanger strutted his stuff in his inimitable manner...

LARP may not be for everyone, but back int he old days of working for a living, there was always something therapeutic about mentioning to work colleagues that I was off to kill some goblins for the weekend..   though some of my bext friends are goblins let me add!!  And without Goblins we would never have had the "Green One" song.....

And there was the inimitable Mr Fu...   Velly cliche, and velly funny !!!
So there had to be a song....

"He Fabuous you know !!!!"

Tuesday 20 August 2013

20th August 2013 - apparently it is a Blue Moon

So as I look out the moon is very big - and it seems that it is defined as a Blue Moon
So these are a few facts about Blue Moons..

1) It's not really blue: Okay, so not really a newsflash, but the Blue Moon's name actually has nothing to do with colour  Occasionally, the full moon can take on a reddish pallor, but today's full moon is not related to the actual colour of Earth's cosmic neighbour  The moon can appear blue in colour if a forest fire or volcanic eruption litters the upper atmosphere with ash or smoke. A volcanic eruption gave the moon a bluish tint from the perspective of many people on Earth in 1991.

2) There are two definitions for Blue Moon: The term Blue Moon was originally assigned to the third full moon in a four moon season, but after a mix up in "Sky & Telescope" magazine in 1943, the term took on a different meaning. An article in the magazine incorrectly defined a blue moon as the second full moon in a single month, but the definition stuck. This particular blue moon is a technical Blue Moon, but does not meet the criteria for the second definition. The third full moon in a four-full-moon season rule was detailed in a 1937 edition of the now defunct Maine Farmers' Almanac.

3) The Blue Moon has many names: Today's full moon is also known as the Full Sturgeon Moon, the Green Corn Moon, the Grain Moon and the Full Red Moon. Each of August full moon names come from monikers given to the full moons of a certain month according to Native American and European traditions.

4) It's only full for a moment: Although the moon usually looks full one day before and one day after the day of the full moon, there is technically only one moment when the moon is full in the sky. Tonight, the moon turns full at 0145 Aug. 21 GMT, when (weather and light permitting) the moon will be in view for people.

5) It's kind of a rare sight: Blue Moons occur somewhat infrequently. After today's full moon, another Blue Moon will not occur again until 2015. The idiom "once in a Blue Moon" signifies a rare event because scientists had trouble predicting when the distinctive full moon would happen during any given year.

But of course it is not a Crimson Moon !!!

Monday 19 August 2013

19th August - I found a room under the stairs!!!

It has taken a long time, and if I recall I have some pictures of the basement as we started the massive clear at the beginning of the year .... And a quick look back through the blogs shows the state of affairs that we had not so long ago

And that was our basement - a no go area that would make the gaza strip seem a welcoming place..  The costumes and the accumulated stacks of "stuff" that we had acquired over the years made the chance of getting the basement back to living accommodation very slight....

and so I refer back to the original Blog about Alice - (Alice ?? It is a song about Alice )
http://vollsanger.blogspot.co.uk/2013/01/13th-january-2013-who-is-alice.html

Over the months I have made some progress, a little her , a little there - but it always seems that the further you go the less progress you have actually made....

As we got to the Storage are being clear - I thought that we were getting somewhere - but then the costumes had to be returned to stack in the basement - as they  would not do well out in the garage..

But today I went down the stairs from the Kitchen and found a room !!   Indeed - a garden Room !!!

Finally cleared the boxes that needed to be in the house to a pile in the storage basement, and the rest has moved via Morrison's Boxes to the garage.. and this evening we managed to have a nice Gin and Tonic (or two) in the Garden Room ...    With the bar clearly in place.

We may have actually got to the stage where we could invite an estate agent in to look at the house and suggest a price...

The stairwell from the Kitchen - now looking fairly pristine after a white wash on the walls, the stairs still require painting with red to get rid of my excessive enthusiasm in painting the ceiling !!

And at the base you can just see the wizard - spot light to be added back to the section to light it up as you go down the stairs...

So sadly there is still a pile of boxes in the center of the room, but now a more dignified collection rather than the tip that was there before. Walls and ceiling now re-painted. The room looks like a storage room which could also be a living room if you wanted - which is what I was trying to get///

At least the walls are clean and the cobwebs are (mainly) gone ..

And at the other end, we have a garden room again - and a comely wench at the bar ready to serve the Gin and Tonic...

Look - Floor !! and Walls !!  and a bar !!  asnd chairs - where did they come from !!!
And in the corner alight that has not seen the shade of day for a while  - and a couple of cuddly toys ....

And of course, dog at feet, time for  a gin and Tonic ....   and a job well done and a day well spent ...

Sunday 18 August 2013

18th August 2013 - of parties and partings...

Saturday, and a day for attacking the basement again. It is proving to be a long haul but we are now beginning to make in-roads into the space that lies below the stairs. Of course, before today it was looking pretty clear, though shabby, but the Garden End of the basement was still a no-go area.
Today, we can see some floor at the Garden end, but the storage end is now once again filled with boxes and cases and packing crates full of clothes. On this occasion we have put down pallets to keep everything off the cold stone floor, a problem that was causing a touch of damp to enter the room.

But it is all stacked in the center of the room (need some more Morrisons Boxes!!), but with enough room to allow me to slap paint over the walls, my shorts, my torso and in places that are best not mentioned.....

So the storage end now has a clean bill of health and is looking a little more acceptable. While I was at it I started on the stairs, and as I had discovered a pot of the red paint for the stairs themselves, I was not as careful as I should have been with the white paint for the walls. But it will all get covered on the next pass !

Having managed a good morning's work, it was off in the Bothy to Mitchel Troy, and the Toll Gate, to see Oonagh off to Amsterdam  for her Masters. The rain was falling so heavily, it was a thought as to whether the Bothy would get into the field for the overnight camping, but by the time I got to the Wye Valley the rain had gone, and the micro-climate that is the Toll Gate was proving to be a fine evening for sitting around the fire, eating barbecued food, fiddles, banjos, mandolins and guitars and a little singing ( surprise surprise!!)

And of course, within all the singing there had to be a Green One as a rousing chorus..

I think I can get the expression of the faces to tell me that this was the song in question...

And of course the drink of selection was the "Bloody Marvelous" Anthony's home brew, though I steeered clear of the Elderflower wine which looked a little potent!!!

So farewell to Oonagh and best of luck with her travels and studies in Amsterdam...

And a good time was had by all !!!!
Night !!

17th August 2013 - And now for something completely different

Occasionally something catches my eye on the old intertweb, something silly, or something amusing, or something just a little strange about the world we live in. Today was one of those days...
It started with a small video reference on facebook and a follow up to Thailand, and a particularly famous (apparently) market that runs across a railway track and four times a day, the traders remove all their goods and the awnings to allow the train to pass through...

Maeklong Market in Thailand ....

I thought the story was quite fascinating and so it is posted here.
A further explanation, and a slightly longer version of the train arrival is held on this video...

and a fuller version of the market train story ....

So, for no other reason than that I can - I post it here before getting back to the rest of the clearing....

16th August 2013 - More of the same

Trawling through the pages past night - I found a great photo gallery site so thought I would share it here :
that way I know I can find it again in the future - Last year there were some lovely shots of Vollsanger - but sadly nothing this year ...  Taurus Iuavi Gellery 2013

Also added a new video - this time the Water Dancers - it was so hot - almost 40 degrees - over 100 degrees Fahrenheit ..

Meanwhile, back to the 60 - 40 weekend, it seems that the children enjoyed themselves to exhaustion. Thanks to Nancy for posting this gem from the journey home...

So, up at 9 this morning, cos the dogs are now getting to be like alarm clocks. Get to nine o'clock and they think we really should be up . Quick check of facebook and then I had better let the chickens out. Getting to be a right little farmer these days. Got to put some clothes on first though. Then finish emptying the Bothy and starting on the basement. Ho Hum.....

Thursday 15 August 2013

15th August 2013 - Starting the clean up ....

Well the weather tricked me this morning by pretending to be dry, until I got up with an element of determination to get down the garden and finally do something with the garage - and empty the Bothy. That worked pretty well as the dogs and I made our way down the garden - chickens scattering to left and right as the dogs charged down, and interestingly, though Delft spends all day every day with her nose pressed to the gate watching the chickens - she actually took no notice of them while they were on the path - only once they were behind the fence again !!

Down to the Bothy - and opened all the doors and the garage doors ready to find a way into the garage to store Bertha the tent.

And then the skies opened and water came down like stair rods..   Of course the dogs were far too stupid to get under cover on their own volition, and Delft getting a little deaf meant that I had to go out and get wet to persuade them to jump into the van to stay dry...

Dodging the showers, I slowly managed to clear half the garage, allowing me to unload the framework and canvass for the tent. At which point, filthy and hot and bothered I decided to call it a day and see what I could do on the computer after a shower .........

So - we will see if I can get another video sorted today  - and maybe a few more photographs from Germany - Only another 600 to sort !!!

Wednesday 14 August 2013

August 14th 2013 - Back to normalcy -

We seem to have had the best of the weather at the weekend for the 60-40 Party. I am reliably informed that it rained on the Sunday Night, but I was quite oblivious to it - can't think why - must have been tired and relaxed after a great weekend. Also the sound of the stream, by which we were camped, sounded like rain most of the time. The sound of running water requiring a quick foray into the night sky for a comfort break - it wasn't raining then - I would have remembered !

But having taken yesterday off and deciding that it would not harm to leave the Bothy filled up for one day, it of course is tipping it down this morning.

An opportunity to look at some photos from the weekend, (though I haven't finished sorting those from Mythodea yet !!) and uploading a few of them. Also a chance to read a couple of additional blogs I have found of other persons experiences in Germany, and adding links, or transcribing them where in German, to my own blog here.

Still, the ground is fresh and there is the nice smell of wet ground after the sun.
Breakfast - I think a scrambled egg would be nice./ Don't mind if I do!!

Tuesday 13 August 2013

13th August 2013 - More piccies for the 60 - 40

Trawling through the intertweb and keep finding some lovely pictures from the weekend by others, so thought I would put them in one place to make finding them again easy ...

lovely shot from Stenson Craig - Ann site on Facebook ...  Here is the river ...

and the obligatory Kubb Shot with Bothy in the Background...

and the full panorama ....

and the ideal place for the children - a haven for running and playing ...

And a chance to really sit and relax....

and awesome skies - the shooting stars the pleides were meant to be there - but I did not see any of them

and one to sum it up - kids, bubbles the bothy and Susie ..

and from Jon - a couple of the skies...

and so to bed.....

Monday 12 August 2013

12th August 2013 - Catching up on the Germany trip..

So, actually ion the 12th I was still in Llanthony - but as I am reviewing the couple of days that I was away ..
I have managed to post a couple of videos from Germany..

Naturally, we start with Windlillie, who sadly spent little time in my company this year, well actually, to be truthful, it would be about the same as last year, which was also very little, but she remains Vollsanger's first love in Mythodea.. and this was called the Evocation of the Dancer, with Loki on the single handed flute....

Sound quality is not very good as it was out in the field and there were many people talking around at the time.

The next video is still Cathain and still dancing - but this time with the full band ...

This one is called Locromon - one of my favourites from the band .....

Sunday 11 August 2013

11th August 2013 - Ruby Wedding Anniversary

So we are in the middle of a field somewhere in the Black Mountains (of Monmouthshire not Dakota !!) surrounded by dogs and children and friends from all over the country and various backgrounds - LARP, Re-enactment, Family, friends, and the weather is being kind.

Bertha stands proud and is acting as a mess tent and sitting area, the Crimson Moon is with us and providing drinks and atmosphere, and Susie and I are playing Kubb and drinking and eating too much.

All in all, there is very little wrong with this picture. The first 40 years completed. The second 40 years to come....

Llanthony Priory is just above the valley and within walking distance. I had to look after the camp - obviously, otherwise I would have walked up there..   But the valley is quiet and there is no signal for mobile phones so no disturbances...

Inside Bertha, without the van inside she converts into a fair sized tent, which we used for cooking and eating for everyone...

Yup - doggie heaven with dogs of all size, and poor old Delft trying to keep up !!

The rules were no gifts no cards and no presents, but we didn't specify no cakes - so here Jackie and Fox gave us an "a quarter to eleven " cake - which was naturally a Green one - and tasted very nice too...

Meanwhile Darren had decided to bring a wtare melon and cut it out to make a Meloncholly Melon Collie.. Poor old Rusty...

The pig was a little more than was needed - but after hacking away it fed us for two days ...

And another ignorer of the "no gift" rule was John - who managed to make this model of the Crimson Moon for us - with full lighting ...  a lovely gift and what an effort.....

So three days camping and a real rest - exhausted afterwards of course  ......

Saturday 10 August 2013

10th August 2013 - On Musings of Mythodea

Back home now and though I am prone to still rant on about how great the week in Germany was, we are starting to also get concerned about setting up for our own 60-40 Party to be held in Llanthony fields in Lower Henllan Farm ....

But now is the time to add a few photographs of the event  and look towards storing the videos that I have taken on the event

Rick and I at the Met Schwane  - the Mead Emporium  - it must be said that I was clothed better for the temperature - it was very very hot that day

and so I made my way from camp to camp with my trusty guitar over my shoulder - There all week !

Here I had a quick sketch made of me while I was singing - and while in the Grand Expedition..

It was lovely to hear the tones of "Green One " being heard around the site..

Here with Anja, of the Grand Expedition - the English Speaking group camping with the West Camp ..
A really lovely lady and great partner to Rick, the inspiration for the Grand Expedition...

so singing in the camp - get the honour of being called the "Best Bard Ever" which may not be true - but certainly bolsters up the spirits..  :)

Friday 9 August 2013

August 9th 2013 - more review of Mythodea

As I am trawling through the various pieces of information now coming out of the Grand Conquest, I find that there are more wonderful reviews of the event. This time form Ivan, who is form Croatia. His wife and son were in the Grand Expedition Camp in the West, the English Speaking group run by my friend Rick Wynne, but he decided that he would once again play with the monster crew, in this case as one of the Black Ice - the Hive Mentality blue and black armoured soldiers...

the Undead - from the Official CoM CD
Rather than transcribe - the link to his Blog is here and it makes good reading...

One of the shots I really like is from the Grand Expedition Camp. Ivan's son is listening avidly though cannot understand a word I am saying - I believe it was the "Ladies of the Harem of the Court of King Caractacus" which would not have helped much even if he was a linguist!!!

Thursday 8 August 2013

August 8th 2013 - A quick synopsis of Mythodea 2013

Looking through the various writings that are now appearing - I came across an article written in German in the "Teilzeithelden" blog and web pages....  It is an insight into the event, and covers much of the experiences of the Grand Conquest but in this case form the viewpoint of the NSC - the full time Monster teams. As it is in German, and not all translating software works very well I thought I would transcribe it here as a permanent record - even though it is not my text...So - please enjoy and read on....

Conquest of Mythodea 10 years - and a triple first time

Shortly before the event, it looks as if all the excitement was for nothing, because my condition suggests a trick on me and I spend the weekend previously been sick in bed. Tuesday in the course of the day I still do not trust me to go, and so are my friend and I almost time for the pre-event party there.

In the city, many people frolicking, some still in their normal everyday clothes, most already in drapery. Quite a few have already not spared the effort to wrap themselves in full screen, complete make-up, stilt Faun shoes and such more, and so are pirates, priests, mercenaries and NSC undead flesh, black ice and pestilence here yet harmoniously side by side. The have-nots playing on the stage, as the level of the gallows birds and the Pressgang. But at some point the power just falls off completely. Too long for the waiting people, and so many more celebrations in the various camps together, meanwhile, it draws me into the tent, eventually the alarm clock ringing in the morning and I want to be as rested as possible.

TIME IN !!

On Wednesday it is sometime in the late evening "Time In" (start), but that does not mean that a leisurely day was imminent. At 11 clock it goes in one of the camps of the undead flesh, my bed, a make-up workshop already going on. How do you get it out that you look undead? How to make-scars, wounds, injuries and sewn larger area of skin, such as is given to applications on?

The field of possibilities is large and about a quarter of the other NPCs of the camp to take part in the workshop. This is no way special service of the organizer, but is held by a emery enthusiastic NSC actress who simply want to share their tips with others.

That passion just at the NSC of the Conquest of Mythodea is important also surprised to find my tent neighbours, as each outfit bought here by the players themselves, created, was stitched and tinkered. While there are so-called "deals" through which you can get locally reduced to weapons, armour and shields of each fraction, but this is not usually what makes the look.

Whether fighters in the seventh row or more "important" figure: The NSC created their appearance itself, after some operation depending on the associated sub-grouping, divided into must-haves, Would be nice and inclusive of a claim for no-go's. So hurry up my tent neighbours  yet fast to buy a few little things like a tabard and stock up on purple shreds by people from the camp. Because purple is the Lairdomsfarbe, it stands for the Lairdom Flower Field.

In the meantime, the next workshop is offered by another NSC Actress already. Exercises will help to deepen the breath and open resonant cavities. The goal: Longer, louder and better to yell and scream without becoming hoarse.

And then also begining the already Anspra weeks. Most of the time takes the general NPC speech to complete. What is in the next few days pas-it-ing? What is required of us expects? Who must we recognize as NPC, who are the special heroes and villains the next few days? The whole concludes with a rehearsal for the opening evening of the whole. It should say "test case" because many times we throw all of us as directed on the ground to ensure that we fall for the players as appealing when it's ready.

But until then, some time will pass, because it is close to more speeches. The undead flesh is divided into four so-called Lairdoms of approximately 150 NSC. Each Lairdom has some own ideas and goals, and so there is of course also a Lairdoms-speech in which give the leading Laird and Nobles and the associated SL more specific information about the end of the next day. A little later someone informed yet about the previous history of Mythodea for those who want to have more story relevant background information on the overall event.

The following are the division of Lairdoms in the individual sub-regions such as the various infantry units and artillery, each department also once more with information, for example, communicates expectations and performs several martial exercises. Myself, the path leads to lairdomsübergreifenden meeting of the clergy, to whom I belong.

Elapse from the start of speeches to the end scarce four hours and then at the end suddenly did not seem so much time left to get changed for the start of the event and make-up it already starts: A march of about twenty minutes, the player to the store passes as quietly and unobtrusively to a corridor in the cornfield, which eventually brings us to our destination: the final seal.

The Final Seal

We are already in long lines as rehearsed on the lawn in front of the seal between a few free lines forming to be no later overrun by the players. This we eventually see in the distance - and us. Last year Argus had come first through the portal to the last seal, and now the players see him just standing there ... and at his side well in 1200 Ostracized who have placed in front of the seal, ready, seal and Argus there to defend. From a distance, it takes some confusion on the player side true, Argus meantime, a few words to his followers directed before he sets out to break the seal. I see players running in our direction, only a few, then more and more. They rush off to stop Argus, but too late. While some of them reach the first rows of the outlaws, but Argus can open the seal. Which also always liked to be expected then, however, does not happen. Rather a ferocious loud noise, a metallic buzzing sound ... and then plunge Argus and his army motionless on the ground.

The aisles in our ranks to fulfill its purpose and fortunately the players do not make their way through our body.

I'm lying with his cheek on the shoe of the man in front, with the arm, I find myself somewhere in his knee, meanwhile, the players run through the ranks and deal with the situation. We are always there when they capture Argus and carry away, as they piled some undead, and (of course not really!) Begin to burn, as do the magic gifted to detailed studies.

I only see players running around the legs a few feet away and hear their voices and their reflections - and find all this quite exciting. I have no idea how the scene might have looked like for the players and I will probably not find out, which is a shame, but you can feel the effect of the whole action itself about the distance across the field away - and that such things are finally, the NPC you want to achieve as well.

Eventually we may crossover, so OT (Outtime), get up and head back to the camp. It takes a while until I get there, because the road has become in the meantime not become shorter and it has long dark.

The Next Day...

The next morning, it's time once again to take a look at the roster, because I had just noticed that the first departure at 9 clock is on the agenda. To Saturday inclusive service includes seven hours each day, divided into service and battle readiness. A few minor plots are additionally for individuals, and not on the plan.

We walk three quarters of an hour later than scheduled release. This is not because that would not have been all ready on time, but it is important rewarming certain times. Somewhere on the site must have once things started or stopped, so we are apt time on site. The SL are in radio communication with each other and exchange information when which of the NSC from where, where, where long and possibly why and how to march.

The goal of the first march I already know: It's the Erdlager (Earth Camp) we had already circulated the day before. It is the most remote camp, we are accordingly once and a while on the go. The sun beats down in the morning rather mercilessly. Still waiting even under heavy armed like us, and bear both the waiting time and the march, without a murmur.

Due to the location of the Erdlagers I can battle, the first that I experience live look pretty good. I was not in the middle of the fray, the overview also improved. Nevertheless, there comes a point where it will slay me. Now, instead of going as usual undead side of the field, I'm on the ground a bit off the part still ongoing struggles around - again, only this time unfortunately, in the blazing sun. The minutes were struck off the list. I hear people in front of me laughing. First time nobody cares for me. Then comes someone who wants to heal me until he realizes that I am one of those that it can be better.

Finally someone means well, leans toward me and whispers to me that now I could probably get up quietly. I shake my head. No, I must be here, because I'm waiting for anybody notice that there's one of the undead just lying around and comes up with the idea to look more accurate. The first player to finally come up to me, nudging here and there, a simulated safety's sake, that it separates my head. They carefully examine the things my equipment that are obvious to see and consider whether the information to help them somehow. Then the whispered OT question to me whether and how far you can search me. I have nothing of it, which is not game related, but in fact something for players of relevance, and so I let them simply dig first time and think, until I tell them that this green bottle from one of my allowed to carry bags. One of the bystanders is probably a magician, and he throws a fireball at me and sets me on fire thus imaginary, before the players finally drag their prey from thence.

I have a lack of previous experience no idea if I've done decently, how it went, but when I finally finally get up and make my way in the shadows, I hope so. And I am pretty happy with my first "real player contact".

As web-loving  man reading so much good stuff, so I had already in advance of the battle a bit afraid of hard or unfavourable weapons hits, rough player actions and such more. That one is just as indiscriminately scans are taken from a stuff, even were the things that were within the scope of possibility. Instead, these Earth Camp Players were so friendly and cautious in their approach that I am more than pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately I have none of them even saw because I - as "dead" and in the middle of the sun - had almost entirely closed her eyes, but whoever searches me because, even packed all my stuff back later neatly together, before they went back to their camp. One-way toll!

Dealing with the Heat

A later battle shortly after lunch leads us to the camp fire. I experience this not to the end, because my friend goes after a while not as good, so we withdraw and take the path towards the Hospitallers. There we spend a good hour and you also prefer the doctor says decision times, because my friend who spends waiting period with an infusion on the bed lying eyes are weird yellowish discolored and you would rather exclude more serious.

In our time can stay in addition to drink it almost two liters of water, and actually disappear headaches and nausea over time and largely also the eyes clear again. He had eaten for breakfast and distributed more than 2.5 liters already drunk, as it it started to go bad well-documented five slices of bread. At the temperatures together with scorching sun, in leather armor with three additional layers of clothing fabric above and below to leave a reasonable and authentic at the same time feeling run-down, and in the midst of the second battle of the day 2.5 liters of water are virtually nothing. Padded for another two liters we finally leave the paramedics again.

The evening is "off duty" and actually we had the choice between the Community crickets within the Lairdoms and the celebration of the undead in the Albatross Tavern along with drumming and dancing, but instead we go to bed early the next day as both fit again to be. Until then, however, is still drinking plenty of fluids, the total daily turnover is finally somewhere between six and seven liters.

Lord Cenneth Falls

On Friday we are both very motivated at first again and again according to the march again this morning. It is once more in the direction of Erdlagers. Whose inhabitants have the audacity to even insult our Lairdom, Flower Field writing. This can not stand, and so we march, supported by Corpsedale, another Lairdom before their palisades on.

So feel uneasy about the settlers is not the Nazis, even if we are indeed "only talk", right? In this case, we want to Nobles at the top but actually just that and eventually arrange a duel: Our leader, Laird Cenneth, against three of the strongest fighters who can muster the Erdlager. Behind the fighters of Erdlagers the crowd cheering the settlers behind our Laird about 250 undead to its moral support.

After blessings of Lairds the battle begins - and, of course, defeated Laird Cenneth the first attacker. Signs of weakness against the second enemy we deliberately hide, and then the third fight of the shock: The Laird goes down - and he is not on again. Hastily jump the meat closer to him, to help him, the clergy tried to preserve the soul of the Lairds before disappearing ... but she is already gone. The Laird is more true-ing and dead-haf-tig!

Then the fighters of the Erdlagers have apparently been waiting for. The only realize its a case that gives them reason enough to attack, while others get the erupting among the undead panic of the moment with that fuels their lust for battle. They storm roaring forward to make the undead an end - and so convincing, that I, this time standing near the front, the legs take in hand and run, IT entirely, of course.

Trost - after the fall of the Lord

Finale

Unfortunately, this is the last fight that I witness on the spot. After his return in the camp again in the midday heat, unfortunately, the health of their price demands. Besides the general exposure to the weather and a fierce sunburn, my body remembers back from having only a few days earlier still been at home in bed, feverish and in turn it also reminds me that it enters into the strike. An hour before the next departure in the afternoon we finally depart prematurely. Too bad.

In our absence, the history of previous Mythodea ends. Paolo Armatio challenges the Argus caught and killed by him. Argus itself is made of the process, and finally he is executed. The Avatar Ignis falls in battle, Aeris leaves to the air bearing good cheer yourself Terra adopted in order to make the new land behind the seal for the settlers cultivated, and also Aqua goes his way. Other well-known figures suffer death, such as the commander of the Erdlagers the fox, and the Archon of the East. For years, beloved by many figures say goodbye to one way or another. They leave behind players like NSC some sadness and grief and IT, OT, as you can read in several internet platforms for his return. But all this leaves a feeling of power: How it will go in 2014? Because it is the end of a ten year campaign that was experienced, not the end of Mythodea, which could be witnessed here.

The defeated undead flesh

Conclusions...

I am glad that I was a part of this story over at least half the time. Incredibly many impressions I took as complete newbie in the LARP at in Mythodea and as NSC. In the latter put a lot of heart and soul, for the drapery, for the role, but mainly but also for the players. And it's nice mitzubekommen when exactly and so arrives at the players. After a battle, I have witnessed the same three players independently, which came to us and said thanks for the beautiful game, playing off the good. They said it was about them always a pleasure to play against the outlaws. That's great to hear and motivated, because just that we're finally there.

For next year, I have already made me a lot, because as the saying goes: "After Conquest is before the Conquest."

And for me it means even more, for me it is then that is probably again:

FLORA MORTIS!
