13th April 2021 - Movement for Vic and a day in the Sun

Thought for the day :"I used to be good at clever word play, once a pun a time!"

A rush day - first to go and see the new Care Home for Vic,  "Annedd" (apparently means "Dwelling")

We were shown his room ( which is on the ground floor) from outside and he has en suite, a bed , wardrobe drawers and a TV wall mounted. Very nice. and the staff seem very friendly and efficient.

Back to Cwm Aur and gathered all his clothes, bedding and his bedside drawers as  something that he would recognise, and took it to Annedd where we stacked it at the doorway for the staff to take to the room.

Sadly, the swab to check that he is Covid free (he has had both his vaccinations) did not come back in time so a call from the hospital say that he will be going in the morning. we will go to visit form outside - though it looks as though we may be able to go inside next week...

So - he will be in good hands and not too far away - though Newcastle Emlyn would have been nearer, the reports on the home suggest that he will be in a good place.

Back at the Ranch, it was time to have another go at the potato patch. I also decided to paint the welly grabber, and put the depth meter into the river - though due to the depth there already I decided to set it at 1 meter so the flood will show on the measure...

Walked the dog to the Field and came back via the "Scramble" a steep path down to the end of the land.

Walked the Lower Quarter with Susie and found a section that is pretty dry and firm - and looked at which trees could be removed to allow a platform frame for a Bell tent and agreed the location. This would be the path to the section.

This is the tree that needs removing to provide room for the Cabin .

Susie checking the dead trees by the Bell tent area..

And so this is the area for the platform...

And the Potato bed is finally finished - both bags have to be emptied into the Gully Foyle (our special tip) and there is more on the path to be cleared - but we can get to the bed itself now.

And in the lazy sunshine - the water seemed to be calm enough to cross and set up the depth meter.
It is above the water level at the moment as it is just over a half meter deep at present.

And from the Veranda
Close up..

In other news, Tesco today told people not to buy from them - but to go to the pub instead !!
No good for us in Wales as pubs are not open yet !!

All over 50's ave today been offered a vaccine ahead of schedule - so things are still looking up .

Fabio was displaying again today ...

Cheers !
