14th April 2021 - Ducks, Pallets and Soft Drinks

Thought for the day :"If you are here for the yodelling lesson, please form an orderly orderly orderly queue.."

So, Vic did not get moved yesterday but we got a call just before 5pm that he had moved today and was having a cup of tea and settling in.. We will visit tomorrow though it is only through the window....

New runner ducks moved down to the main enclosure today. They will have their own isolation to get to know the others better.

Got a bail of straw for them - and the chickens have torn it to pieces in a day - we left it stacked but they decided that it should be spread around.... Looking to move the second coup down to the riverside for the next set of eating chickens. Ordered them yesterday so will have a few weeks to move the pen to its new place.

Susie under the weather, but managed to clear the paddock of wild wood and twigs and set a bonfire to clear most of the wood. I have a pile to look at in the next couple of days to chop into logs...

I finished the potato bed and cleared the two bags to the Gully Foyle. Still a bit of rubbish on the path - but the bed is clear and ready to be turned over.

The retaining wall for the rose beds looked as though it was not holding back properly so set a post to act to brace it... Need to  paint it soon ..

Other things painted - Wellie scraper, and the fencing in front of the bedroom.

Took a couple of pallets apart and started on the pallet seat for the Wizard's Retreat.

Can you see what it is yet ???
Need sandpaper and longer screws to put the legs on - but it will be sturdy ...

Popped out to get some coal and on the way back saw that the builders by Hawen Hall had a number of pallets on a skip. Checked with them and borrowed a trailer from Charlie down the road and collected them. Most are new and good condition wood. Some more projects on the cards I think ..

Susie managed to doze in the sun and then had a needed nap.
So I thought I would have a soft drink, before the sun went behind the hill - the temperature drops quite quickly when the sun drops...

Cheers !
