Thought for the day :"What’s red and bad for the teeth – A Brick !"
We seem to be teetering towards Trouble in the Middle East and so here is an explanation ...
Does that clear it up for you?
So - day one of trying to sort out a new house of Vic.
Step one - into town as the Town Hall no longer has a public facing reception. The Hub is an advisory place with computers and people to assist you - except - when asking about social services - apparently they cannot contact on your behalf and make an appointment or anything like that - no we have to call the general call centre number
Step two - back home in the the rain -
Call Centre Calls - who (we are experiencing exceptional numbers of calls at the moment - you are in a queue) finally are able to put you onto someone who deals with housing - Housing not Social Services I hear you ask? yes - well if you mention that you want to talk to someone in Adult Social Services but also mention that you are trying to get them into accommodation they send you to the Housing People - who start to fill a form out for you with minimal details - and then tell you to go on line and finish the job yourself ....
So - the application to get onto the Social housing register is put into place - not holding much hope as the address at the moment is in the New Forest and the minimal condition for acceptance is having lived in Carmarthenshire for 12 months .... or one of many other possibilities - none of which seem to apply.. Oh, and once submitted it will take 3/4 weeks to be assessed !!
But step two completed - Step Three - Susie fills in the same sort of form for Gwalia and enquiries about availability - not sure how long that takes to be assessed either....
Step Four - back to social services who are not interested at the moment as he is not resident in the area. But they take some details and will get back to us - sometime this afternoon or tomorrow.
Meanwhile - Susie finds two flats that look suitable - as private addresses - for retirement and the over 65 's .
Step 5 - book to go and look at one in Burry Port this afternoon!!
Step 6 - book a call with another firm who manage a similar place in Carmarthen - one with care alarms - will get back to us...
Step 7 - What happens about the Housing Benefit? Apparently New Forest just need to be informed when he leaves the premises and they will cancel. there are not means to transfer information from one area to another.
Step 8 - Housing Benefits in Carmarthenshire. No you can't make any advance application. You must be in residence before you can apply. However - with dementia the Council Tax lady tells me that there would be full reduction as there is in the New Forest. But - no you cannot ask the reduction team as they only work mornings would you like to call tomorrow morning ?
Next step - go and look at a flat and work out it we can find the deposit of £4.5K and a monthly rent of £450 ... Gonna be an interesting couple of weeks methinks...
Maybe Iran is simpler than we thought!!
Cheers
