6th January 2021 - Capital Building invaded...

Thought for the day :"I am employed by the council to think up new names for all the cul-de-sacs ... It is a real dead end job."

Trip to Newcastle Emlyn and Llanybydder today getting medicines and dropping off washing for Vic. Still on shut - down so no contact.
Susie very tried again and went back to bed - but is a lot brighter this evening.
Wood Store open today and wood delivered so it seems that they must be classes as "essential". Popped in to buy some more wood treatment paint so I have enough to keep me going. Looks as though we are unlikely to be traveling to Llanelli in the immediate future.

Meanwhile in the US the ratification of Biden's electoral college votes is interrupted by Trump supporters invading the capital building. Currently waiting to see what action the police take...
Security completely insufficient and allowed the protesters up the steps - Senate ends up with an armed stand-off  with secret service in the Senate itself.

The Washington Post is now reporting that the defense department has denied a request from DC officials to deploy the National Guard to the US Capitol.

The defense department is currently led by acting secretary Christopher Miller, who was appointed in November, after Donald Trump abruptly fired Mark Esper.

The situation at the Capitol has made it clear that the US Capitol Police need more assistance, and those watching the situation are starting to why help hasn’t arrived.

Still waiting to see what Mr Trump decides to do - probably clap his hands in delight.

Donald Trump has sent another tweet asking his supporters to “remain peaceful,” as some of them storm the US Capitol.

“I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!” Trump said.

It’s important to remember that, at the end of his speech at the rally in Washington today, Trump instructed his supporters to march to the Capitol and protest the electoral college vote certification.

The president also sent a tweet criticizing Mike Pence for not trying to block the certification, before he sent a much more subdued tweet urging protesters to stay peaceful.

A strange day - seems that the two seats in the Senate in Georgia have gone to Democrats at the same time - so the Senate and House of Representatives will all be Democratic based - but they will still have to get passed the current atmosphere of anarchy. Looks as though the United States have reverted back to the French principles of revolution.

May you live in interesting times !!!
Cheers !
