17th October 2019 - The world today - Trump & Trains

Thought for the day:"Adam's apples... They're the neck's big thing!"

From the sublime to the ridiculous...   when you cannot tell when it is satire - this is apparently real!!!

BBC News says..
"In the letter dated 9 October, and sent after US troops were pulled out of Syria, Mr Trump told Mr Erdogan: "Don't be a tough guy. Don't be a fool!"
Turkish presidential sources told the BBC that the letter was "thoroughly rejected" by Mr Erdogan.
On the day the letter was received, Turkey launched a cross-border offensive against Kurdish-led forces.
"Let's work out a good deal! You don't want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don't want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy - and I will," Mr Trump said in the letter.
"History will look upon you favourably if you get this done the right and humane way. It will look upon you forever as the devil if good things don't happen."
In response, Turkish presidential sources said: "President Erdogan received the letter, thoroughly rejected it and put it in the bin."  "

They are still talking about impeachment ....

Meanwhile, in this country Extinction rebellion are demonstrating again - this time disrupting the Tube system which seems a little off piste in their actions. after all, one would have thought hat public transport, and especially electric public transport would be supported in the face of the alternative - getting more cars on the road. Also does not seem to be gaining much public sympathy in this way.. Apparently one demonstrator decided to sit on top of a train and the public pulled him off onto the platform.  So prompting a bit more violence than expected.

(Action at 55 secs)

Well - hope they are running properly on Monday when I go to London...

A day off in a busy week...  Though a cold is bubbling under the surface...
Best stay in the warm I think ...

Cheers !
