14th October 2019 - Staying Young

Thought for the day :"I’ve recently started a company manufacturing over-sized sinks... Does anyone on here mind if I give it a massive plug?"

Never too old !!!

Greetings Brethren,
On Wednesday last I attended a wonderful meeting in Staffordshire when the ME was Installed at the age of 99 years and 363 days (in other words 2 days short of his 100th birthday)
As it was his third time in the Chair it was the ‘short’ ceremony. However, not only did he carry out all the ritual, he did get somewhat grumpy when the Installing Master tried to help him by attending to the floor element with the SW during the long closing in the third. He stopped him and then proceeded to meet the SW in the centre of the Lodge and return to his place unaided.
He pointed out that during his years in the Craft he has served 8 PGMs and was a little disappointed that only 4 of them were in attendance!
As the current PGM pointed out, we witnessed history in the making and none of those present were likely to see anything similar again.
I can only agree.
All best
