7th December 2014 - Chasing the Dragon ? A Green One !

Thought for the day : "One nice thing about egotists: They don't talk about other people."

Today I read about a green phenomenon. Naturally, it attracted my interest even though it also covered gardening - a subject not so close to my mind... But this took 10 years and the results are something that I would be proud of ...

John Brooker  - Norfolk
Imagine sitting in your yard, when you see your elderly neighbor outside pruning the large hedge separating your yards. Most people wouldn’t think anything of it, until this specific hedge started to take an unusual shape. Well that’s exactly what happened in the village of Norfolk in England. Gardener John Brooker had a vision for this 100 foot long, 10 foot tall hedge. That vision was turning it into a massive dragon hedge!

Every 2-3 weeks, John Brooker gets out his good old fashioned hedge clippers and a 6 foot ladder. He’ll spend approximately 2-3 days shaping this massive dragon to ensure it keeps it’s unique shape.

You may wonder how it all got started. When asked, he said, “I was tired of looking at a straight hedge, to be honest. It was pretty boring after a couple of years. The shape just suggested itself. It was just a completely-straight privet hedge to start with. Then I thought I’d carve some arches in the other end, then a head, and it just came from there.”

Now that he has spent so much time on the project, it’s finally paying off. This dragon hedge is now a popular spot for tourists to stop and take their picture. All because he got bored with the straightness of the old hedge.
But more important - it is a Green One !!!

Been a day of Man - Flu today. Still had a busy weekend - Gwili Concalve (Secret Monitor)  yesterday morning, St Teilo Christmas Party last Night, and the NSPCC "at home"  at Park Howard in Llanelli - running the bar - seems to be type casting !! Also a chance to announce the new direction that NSPCC are taking with the new campaign for "Every Childhood Matters". It seems starnge to think that the "Cruelty must stop - Full Stop" has been running over 15 years ....

So wrapping up with a glass of medicinal scotch ..

I would say cheers - but it is only for medicinal purposes - really !!!

Night!
