4th December 2023 - Susie off to Crete

Early start - on the road before 6am...

Bad night sleeping - up a couple of times but I had been in bed for longer than usual so was able to drive.

Sadly, Susie started feeling unwell as soon as we got in the car and she struggled ..

And then we found that there was traffic as usual in Newport Tunnels, and then started seeing signs for Road Closure of the M4 - with diversion over the M48  which doesn't help if you can't get to the M49 ..

And as we got to the junction for the M48 the main road appeared to be still open so we took the old road..

And then we found that there was an accident at junction 21 which was just after the M49 - so the M49 was the only way off  the motorway, and that meant 3 miles of three lanes down to single track...

With time moving on we decided to go down the main road and pay the Low Emmision Fee - turns out to be only £9 and not the £12.50 in London.  So That and the £5 drop off fee - it all mounts up these days !

But as it turned out, we managed to get to the airport just after 10am - so a four hour journey rather than 3 but still in time for Susie to catch her plane.

Route back was without problem - and she made her train...

Back to the house full of dogs that were very anxious and Toby was cuddling Susie's slippers...

Ducks were also a little disgruntled as they were still shut in 

But rain started to drop and I had got up early so it seemed appropriate to go back for an early nap ..

Small risotto for dinner - did not want to push it.

Have to get up for the birds tomorrow ...
