9th March 2017 - Barbie and Chips

Thought for the day: "Sadly the Italian Chef has died - he Pasta Way"

Today was the day in 1959 that Barbie was first launched at the Games Fayre. Has sold a billion since then!

In other news, I found some things I did not know about Chips today - apparently the first known sightings of Chips in this country were in Dundee Market in the 1870's, when a Belgian Migrant named Edward de Gernier started selling them.

A jewish Migrant named Joseph Malin opened the first recorded combined Fish and Chip Shop in London in the 1860's

In Ireland, the first Fish and Chips were sold by an Italian Migrant Guiseppi Cervi, who mistakenly stepped off the American bound ship at Cobh (then called Queenstown) in County COrk in the 1880's and walked all the way to Dublin.

So... a great British dish !! Better throw some prawns on the Barbie!!
