And so, a leisurely 11.30 am start to the day as I find the house empty, people walking dogs on the cliff tops, or more important, fetching bacon for the sarnies....
And the weather seems fine and the sun shines in the french windows, and the temperature seems fairly reasonable for the time of year.... until we decide that we would leave with the intention of returning home before it gets dark... Which is when the skies opened...
I have never really understood the principles of motorway delays, but have always had a belief in the "wave harmonic theory of traffic management". Today was a day for this to be seen in action. Mile after mile of seemingly cause-less queues of traffic. Twenty minutes in a queue and traffic starts up again with no real reason for a delay - no cars on the hard shoulder, no broken down lorries, no Traffic Officers clearing debris. There was rain I grant you - and clearly heavy downbursts a few yards ahead of us for the amount of surface water... but inexplicable lines of traffic....
But we clearly missed the worst of it, as we opened the main gates at the back of the house and found that the Greenhouse had blown over, wrecking all of the pepper plants and various foliage......
And so we hit Wales a little later than expected and the light was fading fast as we arrived back in Llanelli. Temperature dropping, the heating was soon on again - and home made quiche and chips for dinner....
Yum...
Meanwhile, from the colonies, the Halloween spirit seems to have burst into costume.
And so, as we huddle in front of the TV and listen to the wind whipping up outside, we can only gaze at the latest sunset from Mexico ... oh well !!! It is November...
That'll be good night then !!!
