I have Delft asleep in the living room in front of the television, occasionally twitching, but soundly asleep and sans nappie at the moment as I am able to watch her and see when she gets a little restless, time enough to get her downstairs, and as long as Rusty does not prevent her egress - she will carry on like a younger puppy.....
Susie is down with the Keen's... Sleep deprivation for Nancy, and just coming out of her latest cough and cold - rather like me, but presented with a family full of young sick and vomiting, and probably Stu will go down with it as well !!! So Susie has gone to do a bit of house sitting and baby sitting and grandkiddie sitting, leaving me here to infect the four walls and no-one else......
But as Delft loses weight, and gets as dotty as ever, she is still almost two years older than her first litter - in this case, on of the pups, Guiness. Guiness has been part of our family as well as that of the Keens, as he lived with us for his first couple of years - you can tell from the excellent training he received (mainly by accident it is true) and his wonderful temperament... but the last few years have taken their toll.
Each dog has his own time is suppose and we are getting nearer to the time for Delft, but today was Guinness's day. He was not well and his life was no longer fun , or comfortable. I have no problems with the decision. But it is always a loss to the family ........
And so Remembrance Day - the 11th day of the 11th Month will mean something a little different in the future... Guinness Day .... That has no disrespect for the other meanings of this day ... but it seems that others can have a soft spot as well ( no pun intended!!) A posting from Stu - has already received 43 comments of sympathy...
R.I.P. Guinness....
