10th November 2013 - Sunday - Remembrance Day

The sun peeped out this morning - and a bright day for a change for the remembrance celebrations across town. Missed the 2 minute silence I am afraid. Must have been doing something and was not near a watch, which is an implement that I never carry, or clock, which ought to be showing " a quarter to eleven" if it is in my house....

But, missing it is not a lack of respect or solidarity, or remembrance of those who fell.
Much of the media today is filled with thoughts of whether the whole day has been grabbed by the media, by the politicians who wish to glorify their own battles and justify their current campaigns. There are those who think that they may wear a white poppy in future days.... Scandals on line showing that poppies selling of £5 plus are giving only 50p to the British Legion...  And generally a feeling that yet another prized tradition and part of our heritage has been soiled by americanisation and commercial greed.

So the day can continue, though once again I am constrained to stay in the house due to the occasional coughing fit... baby sitting Delft who really is not up to a walk with Susie,  as to be honest, neither am I ....

This too shall pass they say...

So - the revelation of the day surrounds the mysterious Rosetta Stone.. The Stone found in the desert in the Napoleonic Wars.. containing the same words in three languages, including the hyroglyphics, which later allowed the translation of those strange sygils...
It seems that somewhere in those writing is something not expected - let us have a closer look!!!

Still not getting the message??   A little closer and the answer come clean...

As I say on Facebook, the original Rosetta Stone was designed to allow translation through many different languages... It was made of Basalt and Black...

The new Rosetta Stone is of course of my own machination - and it is Green...

Ooh !!!   Cadfael on TV - sounds like a nice night in!!!
