15th of May 2023 - Bolognaise and Beds

Thought for the day; "I used to be a time traveller but that is all in the past now"

As Susie is hopping about - started watching some of the cooking recipes..

No 1 Spaghetti Bolognaise

One large onion - chopped into small pieces and two cloves of Garlic Squashed

Olive oil into large pan and add into keep stirring five minutes  start at 9 then drop to 7

Chop up two handfuls of mushrooms for later

Two Fresh peppers or three handfuls of frozen

Chop them all up and add to the mix keep stirring

Add 400 grams Frozen Beef Mince to mix keep steering cook until no longer pink

Add one tin of chopped tomatoes

150ml of Red Wine

Wash out tomato tin with red wine and add rest to mixture keep stirring

Approximately 2 tablespoons of tomato puree or 1/2 tube

One beef stock  - Keep stirring

A small drop of water approximately 50 mil to keep it moist (yeah I said 'keep')

Italian herbs approximately one tablespoon

Dump in the mushrooms

Pull yourself a glass of sherry and leave to simmer for 20 minutes.

Turn down to 4 simmering and add a lid

Drink sherry

Up quite early and sorted the chickens and Ducks - 2 of the ducks had managed to sneak past me after they all went in and were hovering around outside - lucky no foxes !!

Gosh they are eating a lot of food - Growers are on two scoops in the evening and three during the day.

Girlies are going through almost a full hopper a day !

But getting 7 eggs a day and 3 duck eggs - just need to find somewhere to sell them.

Before breakfast I got the scaffolding planks and made a ramp into the polytunnel so I could get the wheelbarrow in and started on one of the compost bins - filled up the first of the raised beds..

And planted some melons and cucumber into the compost - my first veg !!

Second bed tomorrow - decided to do one a day and also get some bales of straw for the central aisle

My passion flower is doing well so we constructed a trellis out of scraps of pallet  for it to climb onto.

Cut the lawns and will edge them tomorrow.

Susie Foot still very sore and she is not really resting as much as she should but that is to expected.

Strangely my own left ankle is also giving way today and bought a compression pair of socks to help with the pain - keeps giving way which is not pleasant.

Step is still drying so will leave it another day before removing the shuttering.

In other news, the Kiwi Plants seem to have flower buds for the first time - certainly on what we think is the female bush and possibly also on the male bus - hopefully we may see flowers this time

Doing a little housework today as we have Cat joining us tomorrow for a few days.

Cheers,
