Thought for the day :"My friend celebrated a new culinary high when they set off their neighbour’s smoke alarm"
Rain 25 : Dry 12
And a day where it has been tipping down again.
Up a little earlier today as we had to get 'Thena to the Vets, she is getting older and the walks are taking their toll on her arthritis - so she had a good examination and other than being a kilo over weight - not bad for a dog her age - she is doing well. But we have the Metacalm to assist her in her aches and pains..
Saw a sign in the vets - "Aches ? Pains? Difficulty getting up the stairs or walking? We can Help."
Apparently it is drug for dogs and cats but ... it does seem tempting....
Susie told me the rain would hold off until the afternoon so I took the dogs out early, and luckily took the waterproofs as the skies opened.
But found my first daffodil
Cancelled the Staff Training - nobody really seemed interested
Have said I am still open for birthday visitors
In other news:
On 6th February 1890 an explosion at Llanerch Colliery, Pontypool killed 176 miners.
When the explosion occurred the blast was heard two miles away and willing hands came from neighbouring and distant mines but there were only ten survivors. The inquest into the disaster reported that the cause of the explosion was the gas firedamp ignited by the naked lights of the men who were working there and it strongly recommended the future use of safety lamps. It was also found that on the morning of the explosion, the mine had not been thoroughly checked for gas.
Firedamp is the name given to a number of flammable gases, especially methane, which is present in gaps in coal seams, which when released, can trigger explosions.
Cheers !
