9th September 2020 - Sorting the Wood Store

Thought for the day:"It was a female ghost … I saw Paranormal entitties"

Well Susie tells me that tomorrow we will have been at Ffynnon Wen for 8 weeks! Seems like forever (in a good way) and generally I think that we have achieved a lot in our first 2 months.
To recap - we moved in on 16th July 2020.
We moved Vic into his flat on 10th August 2020, with 2 weeks isolation, a week where we were prevented from attending and a week with a care package. He seems to be settling to the new regime.

Today was quite a heavy day. Susie feeling a little under the weather again, and no real indication of what is causing it - so I trucked on with my jobs. I showed yesterday the pile of wood and "stuff" that was stacked requiring to be "sorted"

I managed a fair bit yesterday but was still left with at least half of the pile to clear,,,

Among the stores was this bed head and base - which will be the frontage for the bar in the Tavern...
I think it will clean up nicely and has some nice carving and I think that the center circles are calling out for a wolf head on them ...

(artist's impression)

My first attempt at Pallet covered walkway

With membrane and chicken wire to stop slipping

So, a look into the wood lean-to now, after sorting into types of wood, length and usability

And the other way..

Canes, metal poles and useful items stored..

And outside now clear again ...

Beer Garden area and space for the stage area.

And a new flag-pole for the Crimson Moon Towel Flag..

So, while I managed the wood store, Susie had a go at her kitchen window rockery.

Added some cyclamen into the border area to give some more colour

and while clearing the wooden stump that forms the basis of this "rockery"

View from the Barbecue Gallery - we can plainly see that the top of the stump when cleared has a wide wooden platform - we are thinking that it may have been a Kite Feeding Platform.. We are also thinking that whether it was or not, it COULD be a Kite feeding station - so we are defrosting some giblets to day and will put them out tomorrow.

We had three resident Red Kites when we arrived 8 weeks ago We think one was a fledgling.
Last night 12 kites flew over the house and this evening there were 4 in the tree. a quick check on Google shows that Kites gather into larger groups as they had into winter - so we have a chance of a fair group should we wish it.
Th location would be idea to be able to watch them swoop and feed from the Kitchen window. we will see if we can get a regular supply of offal and feed at a regular time of day...

We shall see what can be done ...

In other news, we think that we may have a sparrow-hawk or kestrel attacking the birds on the feeder.
Susie caught sight of a bird swooping down and for the next quarter of an hour there were no birds on the feeder. She thought she saw a large bird flying down the garden this evening. We shall keep our eyes out for more news.

Bluebell the Chicken (One of Cedric's Girlies) is proving to be a great mother and is raising 4 of her offspring. The Other 12 "eaters" are growing fast in the brooding cage...

And so - we have lit the fire in the living room tonight.
An evening in front of the TV I think - Lucifer, and later a Blacklist for me...

Octopus estimates that we should pay £175 a month for our electricity. We shall monitor. Luckily, with Octopus you take a monthly reading of the meters.

Cheers !
