23rd September 2026 - Commercial Waste

So, we may have an answer to why the council is chasing us for commercial waste..

Susie was out today to try to get some of Sarah's Grapes - not man survived, and some cuttings in case we can grow some of the vines, and on her way home she saw this along the roadway - and sadly of course it is leaning up against the Crimson Moon Sign  - suggesting that it is our rubbish...

Called the council and sent them photos and hope that they will resolve the matter 

But put the banners and the street lights up and the bunting with Jan - and he helped with taking the laurel branches to the bonfire...

Enough for one day ..

Busy day tomorrow - collecting Beer, taking the guitars into Marc in the Guitar Shop, and St Teilo Installation for which I sadly did not get a lift - so will have to be dry...

22nd September 2026 - Jan & Iris Arrive

Okay - £2,500 on fencing and the little people got through - we think in this area.

So a quick try to close the last gaps - we shall see...

Off to collect Jan and Iris from Cardiff Airport from Germany...

Jan the Jinz strikes again with the plane being delayed by an hour and then needing to be refueled

But they are here safely for a week ..

So finalised the fencing along the river - doing the repairs that I had to do and re hung the gate - Susie put a catch on the new gate to the Wizard's Retreat

Put the fairy lights along the fence tonight and sadly they did not work - They did when I took them off the line - but we can look at it again tomorrow 

Susie put some Pansies in the tubs at the front of the house so we have some colour for the autumn.

Got to see if the dogs can find a way through the fences - watch this space.

Okay - so the guys did a good job with the fencing - but my own part of the fence was not up to keeping toby and Tilly visiting next door this morning when I let the Girlies out.

Fair enough they were still in bed and so we did not have to worry about greeting - but their dog looked as though it could have been  challenge to Toby - so all was well 

So - after cutting the lawns - I started stretching a new section of fence over the existing chicken wire 

Saw this - enjoyed it and thought I would keep it for future

Cricket for beginners

Thought I would capture this - it was the oak tree that was struck down a few years ago and we had to cut with chain saws before it went back into its hole - not fully flourishing - nature is wonderful 

Walking the dogs - still love this roadway

19th September 2026 - Athelstan in Llanelli - but some homestead pictures

Early start today for the St Elli Meeting in Llanelli for the Order of Athelstan...  they wanted an early rehearsal so I dutifully attended but, typical of many Masonic meetings,  it was "Hurry up and Wait"
but a good ceremony - and maybe photos will be added later 

While back at the homestead - the vine is growing well

Geraniums are still flourishing 

Poor old Fabio has lost his last feathers

will have to collect them tomorrow 

Less apples than last year - but still some to gather

Saw this and had to add it ..

18th September 2026 - Romany Steps, and puppy family fun

So, posters out for next weekend ...

Early morning start.  Dishwasher onto the trailer and taken to the Cardigan recycling center.

Go there early just after 8.30am - but no-one arrived until 9am, and they did not open the gates until 9.15am. Note to self for the future.

Off to Jewsons, and took a ton bag of 20mm "clean" stone.  Cost £58 on friend's account - though paid

via card.

Used about half, and Dave came up and spent an hour screwing the non-slip boards onto the existing wooden steps at the Romany Cwtch for Charlotte.

Took another hour to barrow the stones down - but all done in the end. 

Also did the fairy lights for Charlotte as well

In other news, Tilly is sitting on Toby - he doesn't seem to mind.

And Ziggy is accepted as part of the pack - they all look comfortable.

This evening has been a meeting of Athelsatn at Aberystwyth. A pleasant meeting - but the road was closed at Llanrhystyd on the way home - apparently due to road surface work, and the diversion was not well signed.  Journey home took and additional 3/4 hour.

But home at last and having a cup of tea

17th September 2026 - Guitars, Rivers, and Dishwashers

Didn't quite get around to getting the beer garden and shed sorted ...   Day sort of went away from me.

Early,  took the kegs back to the Brewery and Ordered for next week,   and took my broken guitars toi Marc for repair - but he hadn't arrived yet and everything was shut...  So Guitars are still in the back of the car.

Getting in the car - this strange fungi was at the door...

Fencing guys found a wasp nest in the undergrowth and though I had the spray to take the nest out, it was in the round and did not work the way that it was meant to - so they gave up for the day and decided to come back tomorrow - I sprayed the nest again this afternoon - hoping it is clear tomorrow

A few of the plants that are out at the moment...

Spent some time helping Charlotte next door with her fairy lights. Looking to help with the steps tomorrow ...   May have to be up early to get some stone gravel.

New Dishwasher arrived today - and fitted in - will have to take the old one to the dump. Didn't want to pay £30 for taking it away  as well as the £20 delivery charge.

In further Fight against Regulations, the river authorities called today to say that my flood defences have to be removed as the area is in an SSI - site of Scientific Interest.  We thought it was only further upstream by the caravan - but they say I have to only add a barrier after applying to the group and getting it authorised. All that work !!  

But apparently I am able to apply for grant to restore the banks ....

We shall see!
