5th September 2020 - A Bad day for Drones

Thought for the day :" 'author' without 'GOLD' is the god of thunder!! Just Saying"

So, today was a bad day for drones!   Like the infamous Kite-eating Tree in Peanuts - I have my own nemesis...

I have been working hard to develop the skills necessary to run a drone in the sort of garden that is surrounded by trees, subject to sudden changes in wind and working with a very light drone..

Until there days ago I did nothing other than work the drone to get better control over what I was doing. The telephone app with the video was something for the future. But yesterday I was confident enough to get my first pictures - though in fairness - I switched the phone app on and left it on the ground so it took the video and just managed the flying...

All going well so far ..

Today was a different problem. Took the drone into the sky and as it got high as the house a sudden gust took it and struck the very top of a hawthorn tree. (that is a prickly one for those who do not know)

Sad to say - that is where it is - still!!

Two hours of various attempts to construct a long enough pole to strike it out of the tree resulted in failure. The final version managed to reach the machine against the wind - on a construct of angle iron, metal rods, and a fishing rod..  but of all things the angle iron collapsed under the weight and the drone was lost into the morass that is the hawthorn bush...

Gave up for today - last effort caused some propellers to float down to be lost !!!

Thinking I may be able to get a ladder into the tree tomorrow - is worth a try - otherwise the drone is a write-off....

In other news - I found a gargoyle which is a Green One

Went to Llandyssil today to the Large Garden Centre and as they say - it is best to take a packed lunch...

Seems to go on for ever..
Bought some Clematis for the front and some rockery plants for behind the kitchen in the rockery ...

Should have got the mower out when I had a chance - it is now late at night and raining again..

Chicks are hatching out - two of Cedric's Clan have been put under "bluebell" the broody hen to see if she will be able to bring them forward. The "eaters" are int he brooding pen in the shed.
Started on the lean-to shed behind the tavern today and disassembled the large table / bench area..  so should have more room for storing wood for projects, Found a sack full of gutter and drainpipe connectors.
Every day remains a day of discovery!!
Most of the 41 Girls managed to find their way into the paddock today - and get back - only one failing to fly back and had to be be let through the gate ..

Was going to do a trip to Llanelli tomorrow but failed to empty the trailer in time - so will take another day at home tomorrow and head off on Monday...

So - about enough for one day ..

Cheers !
