11th August 2012  - 39th Wedding Anniversary - Not bad for beginners

So when you get to our age - it seems that the wedding anniversary is something that we note for a moment just after midnight and then ignore for the rest of the  day - except when someone mentions it or gives you a card - both of which are really appreciated - but seem somehow form a different world...

Susie has finished the inner lining for the 20 x 20 tent for the Hadrian's wall walk  - we may try it out for the Masonic event this weekend at Scolton Manor  - just a simple 20 x 20

Arranged the licensing for the next meeting - but have to sort everything for Renewal, Benches Hire , Bookers, Beer  - a real list .. but I am still frothing from the Germany Trip and uploading videos...
which is nice..

I was asked on line for the story behind the  Lilie Song ...
and the story went this way ,,
That was a very sweet video, aww Vollsanger with a crush

very much so
was a complete "IN CHARACTER" meeting - but was SO right for a song ...

so what is the story?

Vollsanger, the bard, calls in at the Bard's Guild because he hears that the Guild is unhappy that he is playing while unlicensed ...
Speaks to the Guild and is very unimpressed with their set up - their entry requirements - they will take almost anybody !!
and ends up in a long argument about the merits of Song versus Money !!

...how disgusting!

ends up he callsthe Bards Guild a set of Prostitutes and Whores - selling their art for money - while "Der Vollsanger" is searching for art and teh greatest song ...
[the

clearly they have never heard the green one... such quality can't carry a price

Meanwhile - a group of bards who have previously been commissioned to write a song for the great expedition and have done a fine job sing for the expedition - but the Bard was not there to hear the song - so a arrangement is made to come to the Bard's Heim to practise and let Vollsanger hear the song ...
They send an advance emmisary - to make sure that the way is clear... they send their dancer - a lass by the name of Lilie ...
She meets with Vollsanger who sings her a tune or two - and she dances for him ...
then she gets the bards - Cathain - to come and practise... and they play ...
Though Vollsanger has said that he will never join the bards - unknown to him - Lilie goes to the Bards Guild and tells them of this Bard of the Grand Expedition - this Vollsanger - who sings from the heart .. and they agree to make him a member of the Guild without cost and without further talk ....

aww

Vollsanger finds the next morning that he has been accepted into the Guild and has a certificate to prove this ...
He goes to the Bards Guild to speak with the Guild and they accept him as full member and ask him to play with them the next year - and offer him Beer and Food to play at the Tavern that evening - he has little choice but to accept .. He looks around for Lilie - but she is not there ... she must be dancing somewhere ....

...oh noes...

that night - he plays in the "Skull and Bones" Tavern - and as he is singing to the drunken and raucous crowd - he sees Lilie has joined those at a table - but he has no opportunity to sing the song that is building in his heart - he has to sing the bawdy and populour songs that are the mainstay of the Tavern ...
but he knows that when it is quiet - he will have the time to pen the song that is in his heart - the song for Lilie ...
if only she would dance for him again .....

...whatever happens next!!!!

what follows - is a song is written

and so you now know the background of the song ..
anything else .. I would be too much of a gentleman to mention ....
