16th July 2024 - Happy 4th Anniversary of Moving to Ffynnon Wen

Thought for the day :"New Medical Definitions : Caesarean Section - A Neighbourhood in Rome"

Rain - and some dry

Well, we finally get to our 4th Anniversary of our arrival at Ffynnon Wen.
We have had a great journey so far, clearing a large area of the gardens, building a Tavern, a stage and Beer Garden, tidying up raise veg and flower beds, clearing the Lower Quarter, and finding the island and clearing it.

We have lights, and we have pathways down the entire length of the gardens.
Some may need some attention and some tidying up but they are there and provide a safe passage around the grounds.
We have  Yurt and we are still developing the further infra-structure for the Camping facilities, the eco-toilets and the showers but we can be confident that we will get there.

4 Years !! The first two were mainly concerned with finding what land we had and starting to find the character of the land. Year three was consolidation and building structures, and as we start year 5 I finally managed to get into the tunnel to look at what is in many of the boxes that have been hidden away since we arrived ..

We have enjoyed our first 4 years here and hope some of you will come and join us in celebrating our next year...

But clearing the tunnel - one of the tasks was to  find the camping burner that we used to use - sadly water damage has taken it - don't think that we can trust this so had to buy another

But a stroll up the lane with the dogs and the seat and grass area is all strimmed and cleared

Meanwhile on the Patio the nasturtiums are growing well

And we are invaded by Chickens
(Blacky made an appearance today - seems to be holed up on the prickly overgrowth on the side beds behind one of the Statues - seems a safe place for her - hoping she is raising some eggs for herself..)

And today's project (apart from the tunnel) is to tackle the overgrowth in the driveway

Two bags of greenery cut away

Doesn't seem to be making much progress - but trust me it is

Amazon Prime day today - not a lot there but a 5% discount on most stuff that we wanted, bought air beds, camping stove, guitar tuners, capo (though I hate using them), and some lighting for the streets - they were 25% off though still expensive...

Most should arrive tomorrow

Lovely anniversary dinner of steak with Gooseberry and Rhubarb Champagne to start, care of Will and Joy who we visited today ...   seemed a bit more potent than we thought !!

Chocolate and Banana cake with cream for desert - can't be at all bad..

Cheers !
