Thought for the day : "I used to fill my car tyres for free. Now every garage charges a minimum of 50p! That's Inflation for you !"
Susie wanted an early start to get some plastic sheeting for her raised beds.. Sadly I went back to sleep this morning - not a regular occurrence I can assure you, though i never used to be an early riser it seems to be the norm at the moment ..
So after a "special" breakfast we headed off to Cardigan, to get some plastic, but also she had seen an air rifle that she would like - with a nice scope and a cover...
Sadly there was only decorating sheeting which looks as though it may be a little lightweight... But we will try it doubled up first.. And then there was a Wysteria ! I seem to have killed our wysteria so it seemed only right to buy a new one - it seems to be a good healthy plant... (later edit : seems that the existing Wysteria actually has some buds after all!)
So off to the gun shop and we return with a new gun. Dropped into Grow it Mow it who seem to have lost out Timberwolf 7-way motor garden tool ... they promised me to call later today (they didn't)
And back home and try out the rifle... Won't break and it seems to have a small piece of the sights broken! So call and rush back to Cardigan to make the 2pm closing to get a replacement. They acknowledge that there is a fault and replace without problem ... Head off to get some more coal and some Layers Pellets for the Chickens and Ducks... yes - we still need coal as it is still very cold in the evenings....
Back home and the rifle works just fine... We tried with a target and everything..
However - there was no scope in the package !! So I will have to pick up tomorrow on the way to Llanelli..
In other news ..DPD messed up again! Delivered two packages somewhere and texted us to say that they were delivered with a nice picture of somewhere clearly not our back porch!
Call to DPD and they can't get hold of the depot so leave it with us to try to sort out - that is not very good customer service! We try the number for the Swansea Depot - which is probably the local depot but no reply - for a long long time! Susie ends up having to contact both of the suppliers and ask them to raise an issue with DPD - in the meantime we do not have the products - the sealant for Tolly's Pond and Dawsons Seeds.. Seems difficult to understand why a sat nav address that leads only to us causes so much trouble with companies who wish to use their own systems !!
And so I only had a short period of time to work on the grounds today - but went out with the Pallet Buster and the claw hammer and found that it works well ...
Searching through the workshop I find in the back a sign for Ffynnon Wen - Seems to be an old one so it has been re-instated in its proper place..
The bird table need repairing and has been moved from the veranda to make way for a flower pot!!
Apparently I have to repair it before it can come back onto the veranda
While in B & M I saw some gorilla glue tabs and decided that it was time to put Dor back in his proper place in the car .. Welcome back Dor!!
