Thought for the day:"Some fellow hit me over the head with a power tool, I was minding my own business and then Bosch"
Some language practice...
And so the Avian Flu comes nearer. Another flock in Yorkshire has been culled. The restriction area around Pontyberem is still in place and the hens are locked in their coops for another 7 weeks. The eaters are not growing as fast as previous batches but we are putting that down to the cold weather.
On Wednesday, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
(Defra) announced that the restrictions would be maintained in England
until 28 February. Similar moves were made in Scotland and Wales and
there is a Britain-wide ban on poultry shows and gatherings.
We had an early sighting in our local wetlands and this week four more have been notified in Slimbridge. yesterday in North Devon a flock of 1200 birds was culled. Sad times. Meanwhile Hong Kong and Shanghai confirm new human strains of the disease.
So, our little birds are staying in for a while - they are not laying in any case at the moment.
So... on with the world, here is a picture...
Cheers!
