25th May 2023 - Workshop Progress

Thought for the day :"I used to have a handle on life, but it broke"

another day in the workshop  - clearing and getting some progress

In other news - there are some fine blooms

And took the opportunity of emptying the duck pond and it was really mucky !!
may need to do this more often

Susie put geraniums in and has planted nasturtiums in my lower quarter
also weeded the lawn beds
Sadly found a baby woodpecker but could not get the parents to come back to it though we put it into a box by the nest - probably handles too much ...

Tomorrow I need to get some signs out for Saturday Night - and do some  advertising on line for a folk evening - and then get a set together for an hour ..

Ho Hum

Cheers !

24th May 2023 - Another day in the Office

Thought for the day :"When the moon hits your eye and there’s fur on your thigh - You’re a werewolf
When you burst out your jeans and then eat human beings - You’re a werewolf…"

Another sunny day so we made the most of it ..
Thought he night was disturbed by Lucky a neighbouring dog turning up in the back garden at 5am - Susie went out to sort him,  a Blackbird that committed hari kari on our window at 6am, Dogs requiring breakfast at 7am and getting up at 9.30am.. (Its a hard life isn't it !)

I did a couple of barrow full of compost into the polytunnel but it was very hot in there.
Susie planted her tomatoes though and then went on to clip the laurel hedge - planted the geraniums in the window boxes, weeded Meerkat Mountain - planted nasturtiums by the log, killed and plucked a chicken that was not surviving very well and could not get off its legs, while I added two more dahlias behind her marigold boxes.

Spent the rest of the day slowly working through the workshop - adding shelving and cupboards and sorting everything into receptacles that can be found again  ...   takes a long time and still does not look as though I have started clearing the area...   but I know that we are getting there - slowly

No photos today

In other news Tina Turned died aged 83.

Both of us are tired and weary this evening

Must be old age !

Cheers !

23rd May 2023 - On the Workshop

Thought for the day :"Do songbirds get annoyed with humming birds ‘cos they don’t know the words"

A fairly warm day - a little brisk to start with but mainly cloudy after our recent very sunny hot days ..

'Thena has a growth under her eyelid and Toby has been trying to correct it by licking it - but it is getting bigger so decided to get her to the VET today and she will be booked in for an op to remove the growth on the 8th June ...

Susie has been sorting her marigolds and other plants and weeding the beds, all as much as can be done by not extending the ankle too far  ..

I have been working on clearing the Workshop - moving some pieces to the Pallet Store but mainly sorting stuff so that screws are with screw, hooks are with hooks, hinges are with hinges etc.

Finally got an area clear so I can work through the rest of the room - of course the main contents are all outside in boxes still

A couple of days before we open on Saturday so can get on with the work
Tomorrow I also need to get the Polytunnel next bed loaded tomorrow.
Clearing the Ducks and Chickens today was my main task
No real progress other than that

Cheers !

22nd May 2023 - Spectrums and Seats

Thought for the day :"My Drummer friend's computer needed a new password, they typed "Hi-hat", but was told they couldn't use symbols."

Another very warm and sunny day...
Didn't get to walk the dogs - ankle was a little gippy this morning and so stuck to the main jobs on the site..

Cleared the first compost bin and think I have enough earth for Susie to plant her tomatoes in the second bed..

Most of the day was spent in emptying out the workshop in preparation for getting everything back inside and sorted ...
It is looking good while there is nothing in there !!

Susie also finished painting the Tavern Chairs and has covered seats for two of them ..

Bit I had the chance to send my Computer history and contents to Richard Shipmsn for his Computer Museum..
Thought I would take a record

Was a large piece of my life as I look back ..

And so we end the day with a beer on the Pontoon

21st May 2023 - Sunday - Day of Rest

Thought for the day :" 'bicycle made for two' championships today had a terrible crash. The scenes have been described as tandemonium"

Sunday and the sun has been shining. It has been very hot all day and between us we have been struggling with Susie on a crutches and me limping for no real reason ..  both incidentally n the left ankle / foot.

But, some tasks were achieved.
The Dahlias came out of the polytunnel and are by the dragons at the entrance.
Susie has planted the squash and the leeks.

Also as she wanted to try to be a little less active (!)
she decided to paint the Tavern Chairs with hammerite ...

Covers and more painting tomorrow ..

Meanwhile built a new outside coop for the eating chickens and allowed me the opportunity to clear the chicken run - was very hot - but got there in the end
Decided to put the ducks and the rest of the chicken runs off until tomorrow

Strimmed the lower quarter and all around the Yurt and completed the lower quarter
next stop will be the John Deer on the ground - it is drying out well

Took a walk around the grounds - sometimes it is hard to remember that we are meant to also enjoy the place as well as work

And so Sunday Night and a little telly ...  and a jug f Susie's lovely home made wine
...

Cheers !

20th May 2023 - No Pictures - steady progress

Thought for the day :"My friend Jack talks to vegetables – Jack and the Beans talk"

A busy day and another day with good weather - though for some reason I do not seem to have taken any pictures...

I have been finishing the box hedges and clearing the rubbish.
Lawns all cut and strimmed
Strimmed down the pathways past the springs and by the yurt
Looks like this will be a regular task - used two batteries and have only got half way down the pathways

Susie has been weeding though she should have been resting her foot - hurting a lot this evening
Planted her leeks and watered them in..

Visited by Rachel and John (Romany Caravan) and young 4 month old Jackson Joshua and managed a bottle of wine - thought too late to take them around the gardens - maybe tomorrow ...

So - No pictures to share today ..

Just the thought for the day

Cheers!!

19th May 2023 - Flowers

Thought for the day :" It’s weird being the same age as old people."

Not much achieved today
Up and walked the dogs after breakfast before seeing Cat back to Cardiff..
Unfortunately - just after leaving she hit a pot hole and ended up with a flat tyre and came back to us ..

Had to borrow a jack from  Tom up the road - and then take the tyre to Cardigan for replacement ..
But got her off by just after four in time to pick up her cat and get home safely .

By the time all that was done I was about ready to call it a day - lazy so and so that I am !

So just a little colour for the day

Cheers !
