14th October 2015 - Fresh Bread, Fermentation, and the Fast life

Thought for the day:"I doubt vodka is the answer, but its worth a shot!"

Another busy day on the road. Managed a long drive today - not really by choice - by lack of driver. Installation meeting in Fishguard for Strumble Lodge - or rather a Proclamation as the Master is staying in place for another year, and no options for transport.

Hour and a half - which was fair - in glorious sunshine on the way out, and clear roads on the way back. Also 9 ruling Masters visiting which was a good turn out and good support.

So, now that I am back and need to put the blog to bed...   Smell of fresh bread cooking downstairs! a glass of Blossom as the Chateau 41 not ready yet - though the red is on

A watched fermentation does not finish - I know that !!

Meanwhile - the saga of the British Gas Bill continues as I received a nice letter telling me that they have received my "complaint" ..  and will answer in the next 7 working days - I can hardly wait !

So - I lift a glass to you ..

13th October 2015 - Charity, Choirs, and Economics

Thought for the day: " Drilling holes is boring"

So, my wife joined a choir - and she enjoys it. They do singing and concerts and some charity work

which is very commendable. I noted a post today advertising their charity sponsored walk on Saturday next and could not resist the post to wish them well .. and the sequel which just came up as the Birthday Card of the Day - how apt was that ??

More wine on the go - thank goodness - the white is bottled and the new red is thinking abotu starting to ferment. The temperature is dropping generally - though another lovely sunny day today ...

Should be able to get back to the Chateau 41 soon ..
Meanwhile, in ASDA the price war continues.. Bombay Saphire at £20 a litre - thank you very much ..

No!! this is not being excessive - This is saving money !!! This is prudent economics ... Honest it is !!

Cheers

12th October 2015 - Oops - where did that one go

Thought for the day : "Every loaf of bread is a tragic tale of a few grains that could have become beer - but didn't..."

Umm - seem to have lost the rest of the day

Alcohol may be involved this evening at Prince of Wales Lodge..

Cheers

11th October 2015 - As Learned as and Angel

Thought for the day: "I do not snore - I dream I am a motorcycle"

Today I learned that there are nine muses, and as it happens I can recite their names - though I will not do so here, as well as nine orders of Angels in the Celestial Hierarchy - which is a little more involved than they seem to make it in the Dominion TV and Film Series or one of my favourite old series of films The Prophecy, where I learned that Angels also squat ....

But the Seraphim and the Cherabim, the Thrones, the Dominions, Powers and Principalities, Virtues, Arch-angels and Angels make a nice list to include as a party piece one day - or maybe win a game of 15 to one or "the Chase"....

Now there may be a number of theories about angels, but in my case I would prefer the one above to a Doctor Who related scare such as

When all is said and done - there are not a huge amount of people who believe in Angels, even though there are a number of popular versions in the media at the moment ...

I think I worked out the reason...

I'll drink to that.. Cheers.

PS - as often happens in my Blogs - I had to do a little research on my grammar. In this case I had to find out whether I had used "learned" correctly - or should it be "learnt". It seems that though some may feel that "learned" is more common in North America it is not actually an americanism - but the two words can be used, and are used without distinction. Of course - Learned, with two syllables will always be correct for those who do not have to look up such facts....

yup - best get the bottle out...

10th October 2015 - Fun and Fermentation

Thought for the day: "Energiser Bunny arrested !!   Charged with Battery!!"

A pleasant morning in Swansea today with the Order of Athelstan. Nice luncheon and good company. Sadly, took the car so the decision to pop into the Brunswick arms afterwards was not an option I could take up. Note to self - take the train next time !!

Quiet afternoon - and Wales lost to Australia in the Rugby. Yes. I know ! I don't follow rugby, but this World Cup I have watched more rugby thank I have in the last 5 years.. that is four matches !

Don't fret - it is not a habit that I am going to get into. It was a one off !

Still no Chateau 41. The White wine is about finished and soon be ready to put into bottles. Sadly, looks like it may be quite a while before it is drinkable, We have enough red grape juice to set another lot into fermentation - and I reckon that the red will be ready to drink before the white is finished.  Making do with a Blossom Hill ....

Cheers
