7th November 2022 - Getting a little windy out there

Thought for the day: "Give someone an plane ticket they will fly for a day, push them off the plane they will fly for the rest of their life"

Just lost the Sky for a few minutes - always a sign that the rain is heavy and the wind is blowing a hooley.
The day has been wet with a few moments clearance but I am getting used to walking the dogs in the rain now.

But during the afternoon the weather cleared enough to think about starting on Susie's Poly-Tunnel.

So this is what we start with. The top path is pretty overgrown from both sides. Looking down towards the paddock there is a lot of "stuff" form the right and the hazel and sadly an oak on the left.
The Area to the left is the area tat needs to be flattened to allow a poly-tunnel into an area that should get a lot of sunlight.

These pictures are good for looking back later ...

After one afternoon ...
Just a start

In other news, spent most of last night clearing the Google Photos store of 15 gb of photos and videos.
Turns out that there is no really easy way to manage this as you can only download 500 items at a time - so I decided to download month by month to ensure that all pictures are still available.
They will be put into store while I work through the daily upload pictures stored through dropbox... and provide a fall back in case any photos have been missed - next stage is to try to put the galleries onto Flickr and to store separately pictures of the building of the tavern and the beer garden which need to be put into a video.

More work for rainy days ahead ...

No additional help yet for fixing the "check in" options for the Crimson Moon ...
Will bump it again today ...

In other news - am on day 7 of my current Drink Free holiday and drinking coffee at 10pm - something I haven't done for probably ten years - as I normally say - "I don't drink Coffee - it makes me excitable and talkative - and you would n't like me excitable and talkative!!"

Susie went back to the Doctor today and it turns out that the CT scan of her head and neck.Appears that there is a result ... Cervical spondylosis or arthritis in the neck...
"Cervical spondylosis is the medical term for neck pain caused by age-related ‘wear and tear’ to bones and tissues.
The most common symptoms of cervical spondylosis are neck pain, stiffness and headaches. More rarely, it can trap nerves in the neck, "
Change of pillow and care ...   continuing with the pain killers as required...

In US News - mid term elections are awaiting results - and Trump is threatening to stand again while Elon Musk sacks the entire Human Rights staff of Twitter and decided to charge for the little blue tick which I had never noticed before - apparently it is important to twitter users - never understood this platform so will not be a loss for me ...

And so ..
Cheers

6th November 2022 - Wet and Windy

Thought for the day: "The Patron Saint of checking bread rolls before removing from the oven is St John the Bap Test"

Temperature dropped a lot last night but the day started not too badly, though the rain was regular.
Decided to walk the dogs in any case as Susie was feeling under the weather with her headaches again and unusually for her has spent the day in bed again - but we went for a walk in the rain - and it was a little wet !

Following the recent storm, the tree has fallen across the second bridge. Neighbours tell me to leave it to the council so we are reporting it and seeing what happens

Meanwhile, the dogs were a little wet and enjoyed a good towelling and being wrapped up for a while.

In other news - though it was Sunday we had a delivery of the new glass carriers for the Tavern - and without trying - they turn out to be Green Ones!!

Our newly cut hedges provide a backdrop for yet another rainbow today ..

In other work - closed the second bedroom up and restored Susie's Sewing room for the winter period.

In other news again
tried to find out why the Crimson Moon does not appear in "Check In" facilities on Facebook and Instagram despite being on Google Maps and clearly marked ...
Hoping for some replies from those on the Facebook

We shall see if we can get it fixed before next year.

Cheers !

5th November 2022 - Winter is Coming - but No Bangs

Thought for the day: "The gender neutral term for sugar daddy is glucose guardian"

Saturday and a big temperature change as it drops drastically.
Some mist over the garden today - not sure the picture really catches it - but it is there

Our local Garage owner Wyn came out today and cut all our hedges from his field and very kindly then attacked the ones on our side and has done a cracking job - took him at least an hour extra - Gave him a bottle of Black Beer and Raisin - so I hope that he thinks that is enough ... They will be getting a bottle at Christmas again I reckon.

In other news - out in Crete Scarlett has got her Green Belt - well done Scarlett

And though it is Guy Fawkes night there has not been a flash int he sky or a bang in the atmosphere.
Dogs are totally calm and all is well in the world ..
Susie says that we should advertise next years for a Guy Fawkes Free weekend break for animals and it is not a bad idea...

New collar came for 'Thena today - should have her new tags tomorrow or Monday.
Both dogs are still spending far too much time in the fermenting apples and I think I will have to let them out early again so they don't bark all evening ....

Cheers !

4th November 2022 - Autumn Leaves

Thought for the day :"My friend has an entire library of magazines about himself. He's got issues."

Chilly day today but the rain stayed mainly away.
Walked the dogs and searched around the grounds for 'Thena's collar but no luck

Similarly no luck with my Bosch cordless drill which seems to have gone missing. apparently someone at the weekend saw it down the garden - having been left out - that is bad news as I have failed to find it anywhere so far.

But managed to take an hour out to sweep up some leaves and barrow them to the chicken enclosure.
Wil not last for long but every bit helps as the ducks really cause a mudbath.

'Thena and Toby are still gorging on apples and I am of the impression that they are fermenting now and 'Thena is getting drunk !!

Autumn is providing some amazing colours
This is the paddock ...

Meanwhile - Susie managed to harvest her last lot of Tomatoes from outside ...
(and they said you can't grow them outside here!)

I think that they will be dried !!

Cheers !

3rd November 2022 - Rain and Sun = Rainbow

Thought for the day :"Are there lots of superheroes, in Cape Town?"

Apparently the Storm we have been braving is Storm Martin and it is a bit unpredictable.
I decided to check the gates this morning and it was sunny enough to open the Yurt to check on dampness and collect the bedding air in in the house ...
and in doing so tried checking to see where Thena had managed to lose her collar with her collar tags this morning when she decided to have a trip across Moilyn Fields - didn't find it..

But having got back to the house - the skies open and I have to go back down in the rain to close the yurt up, and of course the sun came out as well as the rain and a little rainbow in the sky ..
Such is life in Wales!!

Cheers !

2nd November 2022 - A bit of Rain

Thought for the day :"Goliath's funeral was a giant undertaking"

It was a very rainy and stormy day today ... though I did manage to get out briefly for a walk across the fields with the dogs..

On the way I found one of the lower quarter trees, possibly a hazel, had fallen but with no damage, and as important for me was to see that the grass seed I had thrown around the quarter is sprouting despite the weather as it is still very warm.

In other news I went to Newcastle Emlyn today to give blood. As an O Negative donor my blood is in very short supply at the moment and so I made the effort.
Sadly, it seems that my forthcoming chest X-Ray for breathing issues is sufficient to mean that I cannot donate blood at present. A disappointment, and one that may prevent for a period of time if there is no real sign of problem on the chest X-Ray and I have to wait for a possible CT scan at some unspecified future period.

Cheers !

1st November 2022 - And Breathe

Thought for the day :"I was writing a song about my sewing machine – but I ran out of material"

And so yesterday was ll about taking the signs down and getting the fairy lights wrapped up and taking teh decorations down - so today was about not doing any of that.

And it rained a lot so I felt sort of justified in not taking the dogs out for a walk ...

So all in all we haven't really done much today - except catch up on the Birthday Cards and the blog.

Ad n o extra photos today either

So all in all not much of a day ...

Cheers !
