20th September 2024 - Slabs and buttresses, and history

Thought for the day :"The joke about trickle down economics is that 99% of you won't get it "

Clearing the car park

And so we get a visit from a couple who are visiting in the area while on holiday.

They live in the Banbury area and it turns out that they used to holiday at Ffynnon Wen in a caravan which looks to be situated somewhere near the current location of the Yurt. The told us much of how they remembered the grounds which have changed a lot in the 55 years that have passed since their visits here. Interestingly they remember the extension and not the cottage thought they agree that it must have been there. So we can date the extension to at least the mid 60's if not before.

Interesting times

In other news...

I am old and I just realized I still have so many unanswered questions!!!! I never found out who let the Dogs Out...where's the beef...how to get to Sesame Street... why Dora doesn't just use Google Maps...why eggs are packaged in a flimsy paper carton, but batteries are secured in plastic that's tough as nails...why women can't put on mascara with their mouth closed... why "abbreviated" is such a long word... why lemon juice is made with artificial flavor yet dish-washing liquid is made with real lemons... why they sterilize the needle for lethal injections... and, why do you have to "put your two cents in" but it's only a "penny for your thoughts" where's that extra penny going to... why do "The Alphabet Song" and "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" have the same tune... why did you just try to sing those two previous songs... and just what is Victoria's secret? ...and do you really think I am this witty?!
I actually got this from a friend, who stole it from her brother's girlfriend's, uncle's cousin's, who lived next door to my old classmate's mail man.

Cheers
