21st March 2018 - Confusing isn't it?

Thought for the day:"I was considering getting into nihilism, but there's nothing in it for me!"

English is a wonderful language if only for its confusions.....

And in other confusions - around Didcot there is a mysterious Cartographer...

A mysterious guerrilla artist is confusing motorists - by adding fictional place names like 'Gotham City' to road signs.
Fantasy destinations such as Middle Earth, Narnia and Neverland have been added to a number of hoardings around Didcot, Oxon.

The font has been meticulously made to exactly match that of other genuine names on the signs.
Motorists heading along the A4130 can turn right towards Neverland while those heading to Didcot A power station are told they are destined for Narnia.
However, Oxfordshire County Council has not seen the funny side and labelled the amendments to five signs as 'vandalism'.

Rumours have circulated in the town about a hooded man seen modifying signs in broad daylight last Friday.
Local resident Charlotte Westgate said she saw someone adding 'Gotham City' to a sign but hadn't realised so many of them had been changed.
Didcot Mayor Jackie Billington said: "Some one has obviously gone to a lot of trouble.
"You can't tell the difference, they are exactly the same font and look like any other normal street sign.
"I saw it online and thought I would go and have a look but I never made it to Middle Earth.
"I'm concerned that a tourist could be driving around for hours trying to find Gotham City.

"It is fun and quirky and gets people talking about the town again but, in all seriousness, they will have to be removed at some point and that will be an expensive job."

Well - I think it is funny and we need more humour ... I recall when a family friend used to visit and the M4 had not been built around Stormy Down and the signs were over the Motorway "ALL TRAFFIC - POB CERBYD"
She stopped several times to search the map to see if she wanted to got o Pob Cerbyd (which is Welsh for All Traffic!!)...    I note other news stories at the moment complaining that the Welsh Road signs are dangerous and could cause accidents - yup - but only for non-Welsh speakers...

As my son-in-law would quote "Speak English or Die!!"

But not here thank you
Iechyd Dda!!!
