4th January 2014 - Of Abstinance and Acyrologia

Thought for the day: "WANTED: Assistant required to fill hour glasses with sand. No timewasters!"

Sunday. Start of my annual diet. Not because of Christmas or any New Year revolutions. Just that it is this time of year that we start thinking about everything that needs doing, and being a little bloated does not help. The diet in question allows us to eat fairly well - it is a high protein - low carb diet but one that requires regular food throughout the day - three square as they used to say...

My thought was best to start later in the week, as I am off to Heathrow tomorrow taking my sibling back for her trip to Arizona and some welcome warmth I would think. So tomorrow will allow the breakfast and the lunch will probably be travel food, and back hopefully in time for the third of the day....

Of course, this starting of the diet coincides on this occasion with a decision to apply my annual "dry" to the month of January. I started this a few years ago. One to prove that I can stop drinking for a month...  when you have an almost unlimited supply of Chateau 41 it is best to know your limitations Two, because there are an awful lot of useless calories in alcoholic beverages, and the "dry" month normally results in greater weight loss than any diet on its own...  It is a different month each year - and sadly there is not a "good" month for this. There are always a number of celebrations that pop up unexpectedly - but that is only to be expected.

So, cleared some paperwork today ...  not much else to report...

Raising a glass of diet coke - Cheers!  And a few thoughts about the correct use of words...
