25th April 2023 - Garden Stuff

Thought for the day :"Sadly we've lost some of our local businesses recently - The construction company has collapsed"

A busy day today - The sun came out and though I would not say it was hot - it was certainly shirtsleeve warm...

So, for me a trip down to the lower quarter to plant a ring of Arum Lillies - I have no odea what they are but Susie says that they will go well and so I have planted them ...

This shot is for before and after comparisons as this shows the full bed before the azaleas are introduced..

I have put four azaleas into the bank - so they should grow up in time - Purple, Yellow, Pink and Red.

Cleared a bit of the hardcore as is my wont - a few bricks at a time and moved them up to the firepit by the Yurt ..

Also Collected a wheelbarrow of rotting wood to take up to the polytunnel to form a base for the large raised bed in the center - it is to prevent having to move several tons of earth !!

So Susie had a task today - to mend her herb beds ..  setting a new base for the front wicket fencing, repainting and rebuilding the fence,

and the finished job..

I touched up the black paint on the rear of the herb bed and while I was there decided to paint some of the main boards that were now cleared due to the death of the large bush where we now have a camelia.. the fencing looked terrible as it had not been painted before..

Yup - got a lot o me as well - par for the course.

Was dry enough to cut the lawns - though just at the end the spring holding the tension wheel snapped - interestingly - not the repair that I did which lasted - but the metal itself on the hook - nothing I can do about that.

Looked the part up on the John Deer site - £18.75 plus VAT ..
Will see if I can source something a little cheaper

In other news - Toby was meant to be resting but instead has been running around like a crazy thing as usual - never was meant to be a calm animal - found half a calf I think - no Idea where it came from!!
But he was very proud of his possession. Manged to persuade him to part with it and take a small piece of antler instead - have no idea where that came from either !!!

I put some posters up at the end of the road and in some caravan parks and local shops..
Made some A2 versions by sellotaping 4 pages together - kooks quite good ..

Susie off to the Gardening Club tonight - so able to do a few admin jobs..

Amazon decided that as the company with the tablet had not answered me they would cover the warranty and refunded the full amount of the cost. Will buy another one tonight.

Some faux fur arrived today also on Prime - it looks as though it could be cold this weekend and I wanted my wrap around fur wraps..

And that about sums up the day

Cheers !
