9th May 2014 - Back to the Land

Thought for the day: "A bank is a place that will lend you money, if you can prove that you don’t need it."

So the morning starts without pouring rain and though the heating had to go on again yesterday the house is relatively warm..

Tasks for today - mend the roof on the chicken coup - the storms had ripped the tar paper and though there is a tarpaulin over the top - it is still leaking and the straw is soaking wet ...

Take the last of the main foliage rubbish up to the dump ...  The garden is mainly clear now so this may be one of the last runs with the big bags until we start again..

Lunchtime and the chicken coup is done ...  Crawling over the sodden chip board was fun - I was never very good at heights and lying prone over the tar paper trying to tape the joins was an interesting experience....    Managed to find a drill that works in the basement and put it onto charge. The task at the Plotment is to get a water shute to fill the water barrel so we have water over there. A large piece of clear corrugates plastic and a gutter should do it ...   Guess what!! I shall not be building it,. We want it to work !!

Better think about a run to the dump. Might take my mother - she enjoys a trip out occasionally.
3 bags later and a trip to Lidl - a day well spent.

Off to Cow Pie in Surrey over the weekend

Better get an early night  - well maybe after a glass of Chateau 41....

Meanwhile - total of 15 chickens hatched downstairs.... here we go again ....
