24th October 2022 - Trip to Glangwil - and Road Signs

Thought for the day :"When I started my book exchange club I had great expectations. Not anymore."

Well it is Monday and it is 9 days after we had our Covid and Flu injections.

Sadly Susie is no better, and had a very rough weekend - with severe migraine style headaches and spent much of the time in bed - which is totally unlike her. Blood pressure is to high and not being affected by the tablets...

Got bad enough yesterday to all 111 to try to see if there are known links between the jabs and headaches and there may be some links as the call-handler admitted that Susie was the third she had talked with this week. That is not scientific but it may be relevant. 

The GP on call decided that it was best to monitor and talk to our own GP today and that is what we did.

In fairness to the Newcastle Emlyn surgery they were fully booked by the time that she called but they put her on a waiting list at 2pm - finally seen at just after 3pm.

Once again the Surgery cannot be faulted with their thoroughness, but the result was that they want a CT scan to check on the reasons for the pain and blood pressure before changing the medication again and that meant a trip to Glangwili in Carmarthen.

We got there about 4pm and it was heaving - really busty. There were six ambulances at the rear with patients. Susie got in the queue but am not holding out much hope for a speedy resolution - good ness knows when the CT scan people stop work.

She hadn't eaten since porridge at breakfast so I went to Tesco and got some Free From snacks to keep her going.

It is now just passed 10pm and nothing heard at all yet ( I came home to wait) 

Fingers Crossed - I think it could be a late night      

In other news - the Halloween plans continue...

My version of the ghosts - a flower pot with a sheet over it and some string - looks alright to me .

And out on the roads to place the signs (actually I did this yesterday but am only catching up now on the blog!!) 

And so another day - car ready for a trip back to Carmarthen - not sure when - feel so sorry for Susie stuck in A & E not feeling well ...

[ EDIT: 2am - Susie back form Hospital. CT Scan negative. Bloods all OK. Urine OK. Nothing untoward. So unknown origin - possible COVID / FLU result. Continue monitoring Blood Pressure and pain killers for headache.]

A day for getting the signs ready for the Halloween weekend 

Re-painting and setting the new dates and adding a few ghosts and spiders for good measure..

Will take them out tomorrow to put on the street..

22nd October 2022 - A spot of rain - but still trimming

Thought for the day: "they are making a film of JR Hartley's book on Fly Fishing. The cast is brilliant!"

Thoguht the weather was going to turn - so it was a wet walk with the dogs today - but as they say - there is never bad weather - only inadequate clothing - and to be honest there may be a touch of a leak in the waterproof after all - might need a splash of Fabusil 

But the Bush by the patio was dying back along many of its branches so an opportunity to duck the showers and work on the Patio 

 

Meanwhile, on the walk along the lane - the Old Oak that came down in the Storms last February -  is sprouting and has obviously managed to survive the uprooting ..

Good News..

21st October 2022 - Tackling the Lower Quarter

Thought for the day :"Thinking of turning vegetarian. Going to buy my Pasties from Quornwall"

Day 2 tackling the Lower Quarter - not only with chain saw as the brushcutter is in dry dock !!

Just need to get back down there to clear all the wood up - but weather looks as though it will change in the next few days.

In other news - for reference here are the roofs !!  I never knew!!

In other news - Following on from our Covid booster and Flu Jabs on 14th October this year - Susie and I have been both under the weather - me mainly from an ache in the arm which is quite insignificant, but Susie has been suffering badly with a migraine style headache which is really affecting her. Paracetamol does not seem to help much and blood pressure is very erratic and high - we are monitoring,,,

20th October 2022 - Tackling the Lower Quarter

Thought for the day :"I bought a lottery ticket for a vegetarian charity today - didn't win a sausage"

Started a project that I had been putting off for a long time  today - tackling the extra branches in the Lower Quarter.

This involved 2 kilograms of rough rye mixed grass seed to be spread over the ground while it is nice and damp and still warm enough to germinate.

 

Then we have decided that the log in the main section here should be removed to allow the tractor to cut all the way through this area and allowing better drainage. 

Extra branches on this log to be removed  but allowing it to remain as a feature to separate the garden are from the trees.

View out passed the Giraffes for future reference ..

This will probably be cleared as well - but not yet 

and extra trees by the Yurt cleared back to allow a better access to the willow hedge/fence

Sadly - burned the strimmer / brushcutter out again - so it is back into the machinery repairs.

But allowed me to go and collect the beer for Halloween weekend  

Another day ..

In other news - some more deadwood has been cleared in the continuing fiasco of the Tory Party

Liz is on the way out...

19th October 2022 - Waited a Long time - Shield Day !

Thought for the day :"Egyptology is a pyramid scheme"

Waited  long time - since June 2021 in fact - but finally Darren has finished the shield for the main wall 

Large package arrived by post today ...

And opened up to get the Ffynnon Wen Sign .. this one is slightly on an angle and does not give the FW very well 

adjusted ....

Just need to check the waterproofing regime before putting it up for the weekend
