7th January 2018 - Queues and Cookers

Thought for the day:"I dusted once – it came back – not falling for that one again !"

Today there was a test of the the post brexit facilities to look at lorry delays ...
It was meant to be 100 lorries put into a disused airport and then moved on to Dover
Only 80 turned up and apparently it was fine ..
I though I might put this here so we can look back after March and see if the plans were sufficient ..

Seems Eddie Stobart did quite well out of the Charter ..

On other news it is Monday so time to change some profiles and face the current administration for several lodges and orders. I also braved the "Dump" yesterday with the intention of getting rid of several bags of rubbish - blue bags that have piled up in the warehouse and several bottles ( not going to admit how many !!)  - but found myself at the wrong end of my own Brexit style Lorry park as everybody and their Aunt decided that the Sunday after Christmas was the time to recycle their Christmas Trees and get rid of rubbish... The queue stretched back to the roundabout - let alone to the gates of the recycle / rubbish centre...

I decided to push on and give my Mother's car a well needed annual wash - in the automatic as it had been sitting under the tree in the Masonic Hall for weeks and the Sea Gulls had "done a number" on it  - in fact several ... So much that I could not bring myself to take it to our Poles around the Corner who do the hand wash... I will take it to them afterwards I thought...

But here again the queue was immense - Sunday after Christmas is also the time to wash your car it would seem...

So - parked up in Derwent Street full of blue bags and bottles  and covered in Seagull deposits - I am sure that the residents are happy - at least I parked it up the alleyway a little ...

Guess we will be going out for a trip today...

In other news, Gas Cooker fails - no thermostat as far as we can see.
Hoping to find a gas cooker fixer upper ...   Off to Google it is ...

I raise a glass of Orange Squash
Cheers !

6th January 2019 - Tree Down and into January

Thought for the day :"I have an irrational fear of being turned to stone – it is petrifying"

Last day of the 12 days of Christmas and in deference to the question of the 12th day being either the 5th or the 5th - we decided to take the tree down last night at sundown - the eve of epiphany.

I have discussed this controversy before 6th-january-2014-never-procrastinate so will not go into it again - other than to say that when a clerical friend of mine posted "today is the Eve of Epiphany" I had to respond with "I could not read this post without having the tune to the Age of Aquarius" in my mind ...  and that was true ...

So the tree is down - and considering that we had such a small tree and only decorated one room - the boxes that are heading back to the warehouse seem a little Over the Top if all things are considered.

So last Christmas though ...
Summit between Santa and Trump
(Listen for the elves - they sound exactly like Goblins !!)

And so - on to a nobody..

And so - I am on day 2 of the 2019 Dry - best post some wine posts that I have laying around unless I succumb..

I lift my glass of Orange Squash..
Cheers !

5th January 2019 - Memorials and Memories and Happy Trains

Thought for the day:"No-one knows what I am dealing with - I have an invisible pack of cards"

It is a year since the funeral of my mother - and this tribute from my Granddaughter singing Hallelujah popped up in my feed .. worth sharing again ...  The full service was listed before last year - here...

In other news - I am looking at my diary which includes this week heading to Chepstow, then Southport , then Liverpool .. I have the Bothy back on the road...  will find out how much that cost a little later today !! but am conscious that travelling around Wales is not easy ...

It was with interest that I picked up these pre- Beeching and current rail details... I just leave them for information ...

I was also watching some lovely old footage of the Mumbles Tramway which sadly also passed ..

and this lovely obituary from  Richard Vaughan Williams

Days gone past - I think that a Happy Train would do it   :)

Elounda - the Happy Train

Start of a health regime that may or may not work
Certainly not a resolution or Dry January but I think I am probably as heavy as I have ever been and my Sciatica is not being helpful so we shall see what we can do ...

Cheers!

4th January 2018 - Lazy Day

Thought for the day:"One fifth of people are too tense!"

Time for a daily Trump....  (Government still shut in America over refusal to pay 5 billion dollars for a Mexican Wall and Democrats just took over the House of Representatives)

seems Legit...

Lazy day today ... Parcel finally arrived in Crete - now to find out if I can get my money back as I paid extra for a guaranteed delivery - we shall see...

Well - that was pretty painless - refund on the way in 5-7 days - can't fault that really...

Cheers...

3rd January 2019 - Signs and Weird Stuff

Thought for the day:"Just met a happy cannibal – said he was fed up with people"

You just know that every sing you see tells a story - and I fully understand the story behind this notice in Homebase... but part of me thinks it is just clever advertising - I feel the desire to head off to Homebase this very minute and look for some letter candles...    hold me back ...

So following the Do-it-yourself theory - I thought I should start the New Year with a Green one and this caught my eye ...

In other weird stuff floating around - no - not just because it is Ed Shearon - have a closer look at this spooky photograph - yes at the background ...

In other news, Susie is taking Vic back to Barton today and so a day home alone.  It has been a quiet 10 days over Christmas with a couple of friends and family dropping by - but generally a chill period...  a good start to the new year methinks ....

And with those few thoughts..
Cheers !

2nd January 2018 - another day and fifth columners

Thought for the day:"Definition of bad luck: finding an immortality pill and choking to death on it."

A short recap from a few years ago - Renewal 2016 I think - pre party...

So - how do you know that you are a re-enactor - or a LARPer?

In other news - it seems that some dissident pro-Europe supporters are now working in the subliminal areas....  New Year Celebrations - needlessly Euro....

you wouldn't get established members of the establishment stooping to these levels ...

Cheers !!

1st January 2018 - Start of a New Year

Thought for the day:"Sacked from Subway – They’ll never get anyone as good to fill that roll!"

And so another year starts... new thoughts and new challenges ...

So - sent a CD to Liz Fenrah in hospital - hope she enjoyed..

Happy New Year

Cheers !
