6th October 2025 - Juicing and Fungus

Thought for the day "I am going to write a novel set in an allotment, I just need to find the right plot"

Dry

A day surprisingly warm and so it was time to address the three truggs of apples that had been picked.

Well we managed two of them - Susie's back really playing up and the scratting was a bit of a strain on my own back but we got 2 gallons of juice ready to put into demijohns.

This is what is left and we decided to scatter them into the trailer to dry in the tunnel

I did another  trip down the lower quarter and got another section of the street lighting and brought it back - fighting through susie's willow hedge which had grown considerably over the string of lights.

Replaced some burned out bulbs and wrapped some worn cable - but that it two strings working - one more to retrieve for the winter.

Walking with toby and it is the time of year for some amazing fungi - here are two examples

So, Susie bottled 6 bottles of Sarah's Red Wine and the Gooseberry both of which are clear as a bell
Have to print some labels tomorrow

Inner boot liner arrived for the Juke and fits very well. Also this evening the cover for going over the car.

Seem to be spending a lot this month...

Oh well

Cheers
