17th May 2025 - A short catch up - mid month without internet

 No Thought for the day

Dry

A day of sunshine.

Cut the lawns - strimmed some side lines

Put the Geraniums onto the Buttresses and gave them their first watering

Painted the wooden battons

Sorted a couple of the tree squares in the paddock and strimmed some wild nettle and wild flowers.

The mole is still being very annoying - but at least it is now only popping up mole hills where I leave the trug and spade so we can clear them quickly.

Susie is clearing the main lawn border and apparently my passion flower is flourishing so that is great.

Susie is off for a day deep sea fishing tomorrow so will get on with a bit of other stuff tomorrow

May even start on the sorting of the Main Workshop that really needs sorting - I cannot find things any more

Michelle Stuchberg (Wife of Peter from the village and mother to Ben)   called this afternoon and we showed her around,

Was a pleasant break in the day.

Toby has learned to drop Mr Squeak onto the hammock when lying there in order to throw and that has given a new form of automatic ball throwing - not automatic - rather manual but it keeps him happy in the garden

'Thena is very slow now but still doing well and seems to be happy in her days

Fabio is missing Zsa Zsa and we have managed to quell the local social media after I allowed the Landie to be photographed while I tried to find someone at the farm in Bwlchgroes who might have had some peahens for sale ...

Posts went all over the place asking who was this landrover "snooping" around the farm - well the car was open, the back door was ajar and the windows open in the house - of course I walked around shouting "Hello the House" thinking someone would be in the neighbourhood. Did not have a pen or paper to leave a note so thought I would go back later . By that time they had posted on all local sites.

Actually was beneficial as it showed that the Landie was still showing as SORN - so my direct debit in February had not gone through.

Actually I am not unhappy - the fee has gone up to almost £40 a month !!

But tried to go on line to set up the tax and the Government site fails to take the postcode and so ended up having to pay for 6 months by credit card which was more than I wanted to do. But at least we are legal !!

Spoke with Sky regarding our current lack of service

After half an hour of waiting I asked them to call me back - which was as well as we were on the phone for another 45 minutes.

Seems that Openreach have recorded that they have asked Ceredigion Council for a Telegraph pole licence which will be 28 days and will be reviewed on 11th June

Seems that we do not have much to look forward until that review in June - so does not say that the pole will actually be there by then or that they will have the cable linked!

But they do suggest that as the customer I can phone the planning department to ask for it to be classed as priority due to age and health conditions.  That will be a call for Monday

But in the meantime Sky say that they have confirmed in the notes that the issue started on 2nd May and that we have been out of service since then - but apparently I have to wait until the services are restored before they are able to offer any reductions or benefits.

Though the website says that after 48hours lack of broad bank service should qualify for £9+ per day for compensation

that should balance some of the inconvenience.

Cheers
