13th November 2018 - Paying for Submarines - and Kicking Heels

Thought for the day:"Removing my doorbell has had a Knock on effect"

There have been a few references to the remembrance Day and the 100th anniversary of the end of the 1914-18 War - but I saw a war reference today that surprised me...

This is a totaliser that was outside the Llanelli Town Hall showing the efforts made by Llanelli to meet the requirement that each town raise money to buy weapons. According to the story - Llanelli was challenged to raise £100,000 to buy a submarine..  The totaliser shows that enough was raised to finance 4 submarines...  There is no date upon the picture but one can assume that this was second world war - so a value of £400,000 in 1946 would be about £16 million pounds in today's values...  A great result...

Other surprising things include a BMW with indicators that work...

Down on the South Coast today ....  Sadly Jean passed away on Saturday 10th November at the Nursing home. Today we face the problems of administration. The Last GP to see her has been on weekend off, which is fair, but he has to sign the second medical certificate. Without this form we cannot get to the Registrar and we also need it for the Funeral Director. (Incidentally that copy is a Green One!) So the Doctor will be in tomorrow - but will not do the signing until after his list of patients, so in the afternoon - and we are told it will be ready at the end of the afternoon. However - the Registrar closes at 3pm, so we are faced with having to wait an additional day kicking our heels.
I know - it is not good to be impatient - but when you have to travel 4 hours each way, it is easier to do as much as possible on one hit...

The funeral is set for 3.15pm on Wednesday 28th November.

But the weather is fine and sunny after some torrential rain yesterday...  and the Wi Fi Works !!
Decided to check the accounts of the Sky package here  - which seemed a little expensive, but they are training today and advertising 30 minute delays on answering - may have to kick my heels on that one as well ...

Ho hummm

Cheers.
