31st August 2024 - Suits and Bones

Road trip today to Carmarthen and then Gorslas.

Sadly, tried on my Suits for the wedding at the weekend and there was no way that the trousers were going to fit - so it was a case of finding somewhere to get a nwe one.

Interestingly, Marks and Spencer do not do suits at all any more - but then you probably know my opinions of Marks and Spencer. Debenhams was closed , Next had nothing , one clothing shop was quite happy to fit me out for a few pence over £600 which seemed a little excessive for  a suit that I will probably wear once or twice a year - if that !!!

But Dyfed Men's Wear and though Mike 10 percent (Or was it Dai?) is no longer there, Phil gave me the 10% discount that everyone gets and set me up with a "Green One" Suit - oh and a shirt which was more expensive than what I would pay for a suit in the old days and a tie  set!  Still - will be worth it and will fit comfortably...

In other news, 'Thena has found something tasty to chew on down the lower quarter and has been doing a walk about. Took Toby with her this time and caught him actually chewing a bone - so he may turn into a dog after all ...

Having to keep a close eye on them at the moment - though it is better that they wander to the lower quarter rather than to the road...

In other news, a Flashback to Mythodea and a LARP bone maker which I wanted to share with Pip who does a similar thing in this country ... 

Sadly, do not seem to have the business card any more - will loo and see if I can add it

29th August 2024 - There may be problems with the House!

Sprinkling of rain - but mainly dry 

So Dave and Rhys start work on the house this morning - that was a shock to the system, taking the Volvo down to the layby before 9am!!  and removing the Fairy Lights from the old Woodshed while Susie chopped back the Hydrangea  and foliage from the area....

Not so good news as we examine the buckle in the shape of the wall - well, Dave examined and "Tut-Tutted" and said "that's not good !!" as large areas of the wall seem to have blown and buckled and the stones are so loose that they just pull out of the wall!

Main aim is not to have the wall fall down - I know it is 3 feet deep but that is no help if there is 3 ft for rubbish !! Opinion is that when the roof was raised they probably left the cavity open to the rain and the moisture came down through the cavity forcing the stones out...

Also there appears to have been a doorway at the end and removing a stone shows that there is a void behind and it has blockwork on the inside...

Not sure how it will affect the whole job - but better to fix rather than fall down ..

Ho Hum !

Back home and time to catch up with the growing broods...

21st August 2024 - New Hatchlings and New Home for Old Duck

Rain

Decided to let Illyana (our last lady duck) go to a new home with Sarah to join the runners in her pond.

So tonight Susie took the trip down the garden and picked her up to say goodbye - for now ...

So she is on her way but the new hatchlings are doing well 

Four so far .. maybe more to come 

So we cleared the chicken brooding pens and got the area ready for the ducklings

Hoping Mrs Black doesn't harm the larger chicks - she was a little vicious to them but hopefully they will all settle down .

Took the remainder of the Gabion Cages down to the river - though haven't added many rocks into them yet - will be a long job by hand.  But the water level is very low at the moment - last year at this time it was breaking the banks and the Dragon was in danger of drowning in the spring.

But it is raining again - though not hard...

20th August 2024 - Flags, Pontoons, and Flames

Thought for the day :"New Medical Definitions : Urine - opposite of You're Out!"

Rain - Not a lot but enough to drive us inside again

But, started the day with the Strimmer and cleared the pontoon and took the opportunity to add a few stones into the Gabion Cages - it may take a while to fill them up !!

Also strimmed the main pathways through the fruit beds, and the Tanner Bank.

In other news, managed to start a Crimson Moon Bottle Top project.. it is a start ...

Note to self - Glue guns are hot !!  and Hurt!!

Meanwhile, Susie is at last having some success with her beans 

We also had the new Owain Glyndwr Flag and raised it - the old one was well tattered..

And finally, the latest project in the house is the Wood Burner with LED flame lights - you can almost feel the heat !!  and Susie keep wanting to check if it needs another log on the fire ... 

Tomorrow is another day and last before traveling to Renewal...
