28th February 2021 - Around the Garden

Thought for the day :"I recently bought 51% of a vampire hunting company... I'm now the main stake holder."

Another sunny day. Walk up to the Lynx Field and a chat with Johnny at Felin Ganol.
'Thena tends to get a little frustrated when I talk for too long!!

But sunny and a chance to get out and try to ignore the neuralgia which is quite difficult at the moment.

Back to the garden - managed to get the leaf mulcher working and then managed to break it by pushing too hard with the broom handle trying to unblock the chopper.  Managed to take it apart and clear it out and put it back together - all going well except it won't fire up - maybe because I had it on its side so it may take some time to get the fuels lines where they should be again - also ran out of energy trying to pull the starter cord... She is very heavy...

Tomorrow is another day... But it was good to leave the back door open for a while today and let the kitchen fire burn out for a while.. Need to think about new wood tomorrow !! Running out again.

Meanwhile Susie cleared the chickens - who are still escaping - need to buy some chicken wire I think...
Sadly - lost one of the three baby ducks - was not strong enough we think - upside down under the electric chicken - the other two seem to be strong enough...

I started on the pathway into the springs and the lower quarter. Seems to work okay though we may need a few hundred to do the path properly - so may be a while before it finishes...  Work in Progress...

A few Photos from today ...

Along the Lane - looking back towards Ffynnon Wen

Junction at Felin Ganol looking up to Merry Meads

'Slugger's Parking Space - (for Pip)

the Lower Quarter - daffodils not out yet
No Bluedrops Yet

Daffodils - Bluedrops to come

Flat area by the river which seems to be fairly dry
though may have breached the riverbank in the flood
Possible spot for a Shepherd's Hut

Clearly can see the little bridge now the
undergrowth is disappearing

And so - another week goes by and it is Sunday again ..

Cheers !

27th February 2021 - Grow the Roses....

Thought for the day :"I don’t always go the extra mile, but when I do it’s because I missed my exit."

Another very mild day today. Took a trip to Llandysul to see if we could get some heather - but the nursery was shut with no heather. Picked up another bale of Straw for the Chickens and tried to fence them in a little better - failed miserably - may have to get some chicken wire and do it properly.

Finished trimming my hedge and Susie put in her roses...

Laid some more plastic flooring in the grass so we have a proper pathway to the gate.
The rest will be for the lower path.

Chopped some wood for the kitchen fire though I think that we will be needing another load before the winter is out. We are getting very low again now.

Checked out the PIR lights and they work but will need the halogen bulbs replaced before I connect them up.

Sat in the sun - which was fun - and got the water feature working properly...

Snowbells and the Devil's Tower..

More flowers sprouting..

Cheers !

26th February 2021 - Sunny day in the Garden

Thought for the day :"Are gears and steering racks important on a car or is that just a matter of a pinion?"

Sunny day thought one filled with discomfort due to neuralgia. Susie managed to plant some trees and I did a little hedge trimming.

Transferred the roses down to the Rose bed...

In among the daffodils..

Rose bed..

Due to the collection of water by the wall - I tried cutting a trench across the grass - did not seem to have much effect..

Also to act upon the thicker mud at the walkways - plastic flooring now in place near the gates..

Daffodils by the lower trees..

View back up to the House - end of February..

Mermaid, crocuses and snowdrops..

Hedge to be trimmed ..

Mainly done

A few edges to finish tomorrow ..

Another early night I think ..

Cheers !

25th February 2021 - Around the Garden...

Thought for the day :"I met a bloke from Australia who said he works on IT systems... He came from a LAN down under”

Sunny day.

Doctor this morning to test the eye. More anti-viral ointment. Susie with some anti-biotics... Bith f us a little rubbish at the moment.

Seems that I should not have had two of the same blue plaque - so this one is going back to the company today - proof of postage...

Garden flourishing...
Took 'Thena for a walk around the Donkey Trail...

Kissing gate back in place with daffodils

More Daffodils on the walk..

Water feature decided not to work - water in the join of the wire where I chopped it last year. A quick repair and have to build a small box to keep the charger in - but working again despite the weak sun today..

Meanwhile, int he Workshop the Duck Brooder is in place and three ducklings are in place. A further one is not doing so well in the incubator - we shall see in the morning - and two more are not pipping yet...

A look down the garden to the Daffocils by the trees..

Entrance to the Temple of Doris flowering...

Closer look at the Daffodils by the lower trees..

'Then smelling the Flowers!!

Susie took some pictures of the Hellibores...

And first images from the garden via video ...

And so I leave you for another night

Cheers !

24th February 2021 - MIlder - Virals finished - just a wait now

Thought for the day :"There's a nudist convention happening tomorrow via Zoom. I might join it if I've got nothing on."

Damp and drizzly day. Tried to take Vic for his new dentures but they had not arrived at the dentist so we will be going again next week ...
Also cancelled my own dental appointment - it is too difficult to decide whether there is Neuralgia pain or tooth pain at the moment. Sadly - Google tells us that there may be pain and discomfort for another 4 - 6 weeks.  Finished the anti-viral tablets today so that is one stage on....

Had a salad tonight and it went down a little better.I have very little appetite and food seems very stodgy. This was a good step forward. In other good news, the weight is dropping off - not surprised with no cheese and crackers and dry for the last three weeks.

The immersion heater timer seems to have started to work again. I bought a new one and replaced the old one - at least I think I did. The new one seemed to be displaying the exact problem that the old one had - and then you get to doubting whether you mixed up the two almost identical timers and put the wrong one back!!  Especially when you test the "old" broken one and find that it works well.. So you decide to replace them again - and then it starts working - frustrating!!

Lost another pane of glass from the Machinery Shed. Have another pane ready still but will need to put some better battening - and it was too windy today ... Maybe a task fro tomorrow . Was harsh enough getting the wood in for the fires for this evening - though it is a lot milder than over the last few weeks .
Not convinced that we will managed the rest of the year without another load of firewood - we shall see.

And so, enough for another day ...

Cheers !
