16th November 2025 - Lazy Sunday Catchup

Thought for the day :"I was reading that parrots are monogamous. I always assumed they were pretty poly"

Dry

It is once again the 16th of the month, therefore the anniversary of our moving to this location back in July 2020. Over five years and there have been a lot of changes. But we have now shut the Tavern down until next Easter. We have established a diary for opening during the year and have successfully managed a couple of Music Evenings with over 60 and almost 80 attendees, showing that we can successful manage music as a venue. We have a booking next year for a wedding and also for a training weekend for a Martial arts group.
We came with 'Thena our Black Labrador, and have added Toby our Tavern Dog, and now have Tilly to join him. We have gone through a number of Chickens and Ducks, feeding foxes and Mink, lost three peahens but still Have Fabio to call out into the night with Gina. Looks as though we may be able to let the Peacocks free to roan in the Spring. We shall see.
We have added a Tavern, a Yurt, camping platforms for 8, a shower block and long drop toilet.
We have two stage areas for entertainment  and though at this time of year the gardens are in dire need of some tender loving care, the gardens are a delight to walk around.
We have had to rebuild the walls of the house, turning the exterior into a Castle with lighting and figures in alcoves. We have developed a street lighting system for when we open the Tavern, and also for lighting the grounds when we have visitors.
Due to Storm Darragh we have a private road which is unlikely to be re-opened and parking outside the house a a greater degree of privacy than before, though many locals still use the lane for their daily walks.
All in all it seems that we made the right decision 5 years ago when in the depths of Covid we put all our resources into one basket...  Welcome to Ffynnon Wen..

May need some new flags - will check the condition tomorrow

Birds need feeding

Could be a hard winter - the berries are very bright and so many of them.

But winter walks are still the high point of the day ..

Cheers
