24th June 2023 - Steps and Council Clearance

Thought for the day :"All my family were good musicians - except for uncle Arthur who was struck by lightning but wasn't a good conductor "

Decisions after a drop of rain for a few days and seeing the ground getting a little soggy again and in particular the slope down to the Island could be a problem if we get some water over the weekend
so took the plunge and started the steps onto the ground area... Chose the hottest day of the year I reckon and was completely dripping within a short period of time .. May have slightly overdone it !

Also looked at the spring and the ditch Susie had dug last year to let some water through - and decided to use a standard drain pipe rather than a lad drain - as I really did not want to get another ton of gravel before visitors and event... - so du a trench out ready for a pipe.

In other news - the donkey trail is getting so bad that I decided to report it to the Council.
Have strimmed most of the walkway and taken the clippers to what I can - but it requires the big machinery to clear a proper walway through the woods..

A  long day today - a little tired

Cheers

23rd June 2023 - Fedging and Cementing

Thought for the day; "A huge shout out to those of us who stood too close to the speakers at concerts"

Susie at work today weaving the Willow Fedge (Fencing Hedge)  and tidying up around the Yurt
Still need to get rid of all the wood from the raised walkways ..

In other news - working with Cement - all will be made clear later

Shh!   a secret for the event next week

Cheers

22nd June 2023 - Clearing for Event

Thought for the day: "I could measure in kilograms rather than pounds but I am set in my weighs"

Meanwhile,  lawns have been cut, a new Horse table has been added to the front of house
A friend Paul offered me an a - frame bar seating and got down to £100 which is a reasonable price - thought I had not realised that it was at the higher spectrum of wood weight.. in reality it is far stronger than our original seating...

So it has now got the hitching rings on this table and the other one has gone to add to the beer garden.

Meanwhile, after cleaning out the ducks and cutting the lawns_ I took the strimmer to the paddock and   the lower quarter and into the island where that main task today was to get rid of a lot of the dead wood
and cut the foliage so it was a strimming day and chainsaw days..

Area for the ritual circle now established - sadly - two more cancellations today - so getting to the unworkable numbers .. but will go ahead and enjoy with our own players and family

19th June 2023 - and catchup

Thought for the day :"Our lawyer was charged with indecent exposure - he had lost his last suit"

Time for a little reflection

Charity Pot is full with £81 and some odd change ...
With the rest of the takings we are well on way donating £250 again even though it was only a two day weekend

Also a nice benefactor dropped off a bag full of egg boxes so we will not have to buy for a while

And some interesting nasturtiums

Cheers..

18th June 2023 - Sunday Opening

Thought for the day :"Many golfers prefer a golf cart to a caddy – the cart can’t count, criticise or laugh"

Sunday Night at the Tavern - and heading for our target of £250 for British Heart Foundation (Wales)

Another good day with the moon ..

Cheers !
