16th December 2022 = Still Cold !!

Thought for the day :"Remember, if you lose a sock in the dryer, it comes back as a Tupperware lid that doesn't fit any of your containers"

13th December 2022 - More Winter Photos

Thought for the day :"Don't bother walking a mile in my shoes. That would be boring. Spend 30 seconds in my head. That'll freak you right out"

Some more chilly pictures from a walk around - sadly had a fall and have bruised my shoulder - but there you go ...

Royal Order of Scotland - North Wales tomorrow

Cheers !

12th December 2022 - Ice Dragons and Hospital Visiting

Thought for the day :"I remember being able to get up without making sound effects.."

Some Ice Dragons

And  my dog may be broken !!

In other news - we went to Llanybydder to collect some clothes and items for Vic in hospital and carried on to Glangwili Hospital. Roads were very slippery and we had some trouble getting out of the village up the road past the garage !!
after the main roads they were all pretty clear though the outside temperature was about -2.5 C for most of the day.

Sad to say Vic does not know what is happening to him and is very scared. He did not recognise Susie we think and though she tried to hold him while they tried to attach a canula  so he could get pain medication he was very resistant. Have no idea how we get through this one ...

Back home and both dogs did the journey - one of the first that Toby has done in the car and in the end he settled mainly though still very anxious - certainly the car is better for him than the landie..

Chimneys being swept tomorrow - so will be letting the fires go out over night so expecting a very cold night...

Looking at the weather for the next two weeks, and beginning to consider cancelling the beer - not sure that we will sell much in the cold and possible rain ...  will monitor this over the next few days..

Cheers !

11th December 2022 - Too icy to go out

Thought for the day :" The older I get, the earlier it gets late....."

We intended to go to Carmarthen today - to do a little shopping and to visit Vic in the hospital and take some clothes for him but it was very cold and the roads were very icy ...   Sensible decision was to cancel the trip and stay at the house... Vic in a lot of pain and will not eat - but we know that eating was a problem before - hoping that they are giving him plenty of tea with sugar...

Walked the dogs in the cold ...

Will see about going tomorrow

Outside freezer was having problems and the fruit unfroze..
Most could not be rescued but Susie decided to see if we could rescue the grapes that we got from  Sarah and so we allowed them to thaw and Susie has strained them today and put them into fermentation..

It is starting so we shall see how it goes..

Cheers !

10th December 2022 - a morning walk in the winter sun

Thought for the day :"When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say "nothing," it does not mean I am free. It means I am doing nothing....."

Very cold spell - took a walk

Vic through the operation but will be thinking of visiting tomorrow - tough fellow - though it sounds as though he is in a lot of pain - sadly he likes to sleep on his side and that is not possible for him with the hip replacement ....

Other than that it is time to batten down the hatches - going through the wood and coal quite fast - but the electricity bills are still very reasonable - we are on a fixed tariff until July and we are currently getting £67 a month from the government  to offset the costs of the increases...

In other news...  Community Cafe was this morning in the Village Hall..
Did some flyers for the Christmas ..

Cheers
