7th February 2020 - Shenaniquiz - and lost farms

Thought for the day :"I'm overweight but I identify as slim. Does that make me translender?"

Posted to group and pages
"Well - we got an email from the estate agent yesterday afternoon saying that after receiving the offers for the Farm, the vendors have re-considered and decided to take the Farm off the market and are no longer selling. This seems to have been a great surprise to the Estate Agent - as well as a disappointment for us .. Suffice to say - thank you for your support over the last couple of weeks.... Where do we go from here? Well, we have decided to keep the group going, feel free to stay or leave as you wish. The requirement for the additional funding for this particular business has gone - but the house is still in process of being sold so we are looking for another small-holding / Farm - working to the original idea of a farm with a barn for a Tavern and pasture for friends to come and stay. During the process of looking at this place - we rather like the idea of doing something in the "Glamp" range - probably with camping Pods and Gypsy Caravan / Shepherd's huts - so if you wish to stay in the group I will keep you updated with our progress.
Meanwhile I will remove all references to Cwm ty Coed and we will see where we go from here. "

Day 5 of the Getaway and the last of the group are with us this evening as we head for the Captain's Table and Shenaniquiz afterwards.

and Bruce was there - by default,,,,
Cheers

6th February 2020 - Film Nights and Boozy Times

Thought for the day:"Just so everyone is clear, I’m going to put on my glasses."

Another lovely day down in Dorset.
Walked the dog ( round the garden - Susie is walking her up the lane now).
Sitting an chilling with friends and a fairly late night watching films last night. Deadpool 2 was new for me -and then introduced the rest to Dark Star (John Carpenter 1974 space film) which did not impress much sad to say - and MAX Headroom the Series which I enjoyed though it was getting nearer to 6am than 3am by the time it had finished.

Feeling a little bloated with Pip making massive cooked breakfasts every morning.
May have to have a little rest later ....

5th February 2020 - Chilling in Dorset

Thought for the day :" Doctor said “Don’t eat anything fatty” I said “Bacon?” He said “I told you anything, fatty” "

Day three on the Getaway.
Had email confirmation that the vendors at Cwmtycoed wish a few days to examine and consider the offers that they have received.  So we will play the waiting game for a few days.

Lazy morning, early swim in the pool. Getting fit ? Probably not with the full cooked breakfast that followed. Ho hum....

Had a film night last night with the big screen and surround sound...

Chill? Yes I think so ...

No other news to tell today ..

Cheers!

4th February 2020 - And the offer is in for Glamping...

Thought for the day :"First rule of the Passive aggressive club is… You know what – never mind. It’s Fine!"

Day 2 of the Getaway - and I have been in the pool - played pool, eaten to my fill and drunk a bit of wine (that is a technical measure - honest) and thought about a Glamping site as today the "Offers and Final Bids" had to be in and so we looked to see what we could arrive at.

The bid is in now - if it is not enough it was not meant to be ....

Text of the bid - for posterity :

Rural Scene
Dear Sir,
Cwm ty Coed – Carmarthen – Best And Final Offers

Thank you for your notification regarding the above address.
My wife and I have viewed the property and would like to place a bid with regard to the purchase.

  1. Iain Weston Sewell & Susan Jane Sewell.
    41 New Road, Llanelli, Carms. SA15 3DP
    07914 810080
    iain@pigsmayfly.co.uk
  2. We would wish to offer the asking price of £395,000
  3. We are happy to negotiate up to an additional £35,000 for the purchase of the business to include current equipment required for running the existing business
  4. We have an agreed offer for a property at 16 Hengistbury Road, Barton on Sea, BH25 7LU, listed at £445,000 awaiting final conveyancing, so finance is available, indeed we are willing to move to an offer for the full price for immediate contract, but understand that your clients wish to complete later in the year. After consideration we are willing to consider later completion, but finance is available at an earlier time.
  5. We do not require additional finance and are able to proceed without mortgage, chain or other financing.
  6. Our offer is not subject to survey or independent valuation.
  7. We are willing to proceed from an early date – but after discussion have decided that the vendor’s choice of end of season would suit a structured transfer of property and business.
  8. Additional Information:
My wife and I have been actively involved in similar customer-based venture for the last 17 years, managing and maintaining a Live Roleplay and Reenactment Marquee/ Tavern business throughout the country.        (www.crimson-moon.co.uk)
Our wish is to have smallholding and maintain links with our previous customers. We are well experienced in most areas surrounding camping / glamping and leisure activities.
We have the finance available, and as we are living locally and currently retired, if successful we would welcome the opportunity of working alongside the vendors in a voluntary capacity to learn the details of the current business model to ensure a smooth transition.
The vendors may consider this advantageous in providing additional casual labour for no cost. We currently reside 20 minutes away from the property and could make ourselves available as convenient to the Vendor.
Should the vendor wish to proceed at an earlier date than end of season, we are willing to consider covering the expected profits for the remainder of the season – subject to negotiation.
As a retired Police Chief Inspector (Dyed-Powys Police) I currently receive both occupational and state pension, providing a basic income outside any future business requirements.
We hope that these factors may assist in the choice of preferred partner.
In the event that we are unsuccessful we would like to congratulate the vendors upon all the work that they have achieved at this site – a task that we would hope to emulate elsewhere.

Sent and received so we will find out in the next few weeks ,,,

Cheers !

2nd February 2020 - Palindrome day

Thought for the day :"Drugs are never the answer, unless the clue is ‘Narcotics, 5 letters.’ "

Sunday it is and we are a Palindrome - though even better at eight twenty this evening.

Thought - why isn't Palindrome a Palindrome?

Waiting on hearing from the Vendor at Cwm ty Coed.
Nothing yet...

Cleaned the Ducks and got the music kit ready for the week getaway tomorrow - not sure how I got it all in last time - must be a day for Tetris tomorrow. Looks like we have an extra audience of 4 for Saturday. taking an extra CD for sale - well you never can tell.

May have to watch some Rugby !!  International time - never been a real fan - but not feeling like being particularly active in other areas while waiting to see how we are proceeding.

Cheers !

1st February 2020 - Taking a chill Saturday

Thought for the day:"My pet shop wouldn't sell me a taller stand for my parrot. I wanted to get it now and pay for it later but the owner said “I’m sorry but I don’t do higher perches” "

Saturday - and the Provincial Meeting of the Societas Rosicruciana in  Anglia at Coychurch in Bridgend, and Provincial Organist for the second year.
Enjoyable morning and very quick meeting so a nice 4 course dinner and home.
Taking it quietly after a very busy week while Susie goes to a 70th Birthday Party wit the Choir.
Dry evening for me as I will be picking her up at midnight.

In other news - hoping to hear something about Cwm ty Coed tomorrow and then off for a Getaway in Blandford for a week - looking forward to a nice chill.

In other news Corona Virus is spreading. I don't think we have any fatalities here yet, but over 200 in China.

In political news ...

So an evening in front of the TV. Some rubbish films I have been storing for a long time.

Cheers !
