6th November 2019 - A little more Crete and How to behave in Britain

Thought for the day :" Greggs are starting deliveries using drones...It all sounds a bit ‘pie in the sky’ to me..."

A few more photos from Crete..

In other news - I have no ideas what is happening in the news and it is rather a nice though scary feeling ..

However, Susie found this little gem from 1943 - The US Army guidance film for US troops in the UK - "How to behave in Britain" - on Youtube..

I will leave this for my American Friends

Cheers !

5th November 2019 - A day at Plaka and Spinalonga

Thought for the day :"My fireworks all went off in the wrong sequence... It was Bang out of order...

A lovely day at Spinalonga...  We were lucky enough to meet up with Manos - who had captained our fishing trip  boat trip last trip and after some fast Greek to the other boat keepers, we were charged for two instead of three for out trip across to the Island. 10€ per person but he trip was lively and fun in the wind - the sun was out and a lovely day and a lot cooler than the last time we went.

a bit blowy

Serious Nanoo

By my Power I give you ...

Spinalonga

Had a short trip as the capt'n said back in an hour - it seems that he meant that you could get the next trip back - I think the last boat back was to be a quarter passed two - but we had an hour and explored quickly and headed back to look at the windmills and back to Taverna Spinalonga for some Meze and beer ...

A quick swim for Nanoo and a fish for Susie - so it would be rude not to have another beer - or two !!!

and swimming

and fishes caught

And so we leave Spinalonga for another year ...   and we wish Nancy a safe trip home to Blighty where I believe the temperature is a little cooler than here

4th November 2019 - And off to Spinalonga

Thought for the day :"My neighbour had the grass stolen from his garden. I think he is looking forlorn."

And off to Spinalonga ....   At least it is not over 100 degrees this time - last time we went it was just too much - even for those from Arizona - maybe the heat was not dry enough!!

Cheers !

2nd November 2019 - Rugby and Writing Songs

Thought for the day :"They are advertising coconut shampoo. Why would I wash a coconut!?"

Another morning at the Babel Cafe - an apt name for the only place left in Crete that seems to be doing an English Breakfast - though to be honest they have run out of English Sausages and now English Bacon !!   but in fairness this was their last day open  - and the Rugby was on...
And we may have had a few beers!

The Barkeep / Owner tells me confidentially that he is out of big beers so he only has the small Mythos left - but that he has put 6 into the fridge just for us, and so it was only fair to drink them - well at least four. And then as we asked for the bill he decided that we should have the last two " On the House" - it would have been rude to refuse..

So South Africa won and I now know that some of the new Rugby rules have passed me by as I have no idea why the penalties were being awarded for some of the scrum actions..  and a couple of other penalties confused me as well - but I recognise a good try when it is in front of me - even if the pass looked forward!!!

And here are my girls... well two of them ...

So back in the flat and working on a song for Frivolita  - the artist with the Mythodea Cards....
Getting there I think ...

Probably time for a nap soon - it is a hard life...

And in the world of Politics...

Had some good storms the last couple of days - maybe more today

 Cheers !

1st November 2019 - Blades and Bunnies

Thought for the day :"Yesterday I spotted an albino Dalmatian – it was the least I could do for him "

Start of another month - where has this year gone ???

In Crete - and up early and - unusually for me - we are going to go and watch the rugby for breakfast.
Well - it is Wales v All Blacks ..

Speak later when we have a result...

'nuff said I think ...

and talking of getting older....

An old Doberman starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he's lost.
Wandering about, he notices a lion heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.
The old Doberman thinks, "Oh, oh! I'm in deep shit now!”
Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.
Just as the lion is about to leap, the old Doberman exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious lion! I wonder, if there are any more around here?”
Hearing this, the young lion halts his attack in mid-stride, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.
"Whew!," says the lion, "That was close! That old Doberman nearly had me!”
Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the lion. So, off he goes.
The squirrel soon catches up with the lion, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the lion.
The young lion is furious at being made a fool of and says, "Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine!”
Now, the old Doberman sees the lion coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, "What am I going to do now?," but instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old Doberman says……..
"Where's that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another lion!”
Moral of this story…
Don't mess with the old dogs... Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!
Bull Shit and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Cheers !!
