16th October 2022 - Another month passes

Thought for the day :"It was the best of vines. It was the worst of vines." (Grape Expectations)

As we reach another month in the progress at Ffynnon Wen, the weather is beginning to change again and we are getting the russet colours of Autumn. Temperatures are not dropping drastically, but we are beginning to get the dark evenings and dark mornings as the days get shorter.

Each month is different here. We are wetter but the greens of the Summer are turning. The Reds and Golds are striking. The lawns still need cutting as the grass is still growing and the weeds are as prolific as ever. But we will get on top of them ...

Toby is getting into his terrible teens we think - now over a year old he is starting to try his boundaries and that means more fencing !!   So far he has managed to get past all iof my attempts and sadly thinks that the road is part of his personal territory. Not helped by a neighbours' cat deciding that our patio should be part of its patrol area or a fox or similar creature ...

Scrumping is the main business for both Dogs - 'Thena is particularly partial to the apples and indeed is quite possessive. Tony thinks that they are good as balls to chase and throw around - and then you can eat them !! Bonus !!

But this is also the time for prolific fungi - and the tree stumps and grassy areas are festooned with startling fungi.

So winter is heading our way - but we still have some colour in the garden ..

Getting ready for our Halloween Opening for a Spooky Weekend at the Crimson Moon.
Guests welcome
