20th November 2024 - JBL Installation

Thought for the day :"Lost my job selling amplifiers because I couldn't get the right volume of sales"

Snow !

Had to abandon everyone today to go down to Abergavveny for the Athelstan Installation
A fraught journey through some terrible weather and only making the Court at 2 minutes passed 11, when the meeting was starting at 11am. But it went okay - not as good as I would like, but never really settled.
John Benjamin Lloyd Court No 85 .

No Photos so far - will add when time allows

Meanwhile Jan and Iris and Susie went to Narberth to see Nancy and Family

18th November 2024 - A painting we will go

Thought for the day :"Called the tinnitus helpline - no answer, it just kept ringing"

Wet - very

So too wet to go out but we had decided before they arrived that we were going to re-decorate the Living room while we were all together. a bit cheeky really to invite people over on holiday and then put them to work!!

But today was day one of a two day clean and paint - emulsion rollers for the ceiling and walls and mahogany wood paint for the skirtings and woodwork.

Cheers !

17th November 2024 - Walking in the Rain

Thought for the day :"I never finish anything. I have a black belt in partial arts"

Wet ...   but that did not stop us going out ...

So today,  Sunday is a journey recovery day..   settling in, walking the dogs and a Sunday Lunch, and a game of Mah Jjong which was a new experience for the Germans.

Cheers !

16th November 2024 - Germans Arrive

Thought for the day :"It only takes one pint to get me drunk. It is either the 13th or the 14th"

Wet
That mizzy constant rain

Pinned Post - 16th November 2024
So the House renovation started on the 29th August 2024, and our anniversary of our moving date has centred on this work for September ad October, and today is not change.
The progress is getting to the stage where we can see the end of the job, though with the weather looking to be wet and cold over the next week or so, we may have more delays.
But Nancy has been working on the woodpile which is getting lower, and I finished building the pallet wood store, and today we lit the fire the kitchen so it remains warm while Jan and Iris are visiting, and I have de-wired the flickering lights in the wood burner in the living room so we can have the fire lit when I get back with them after collecting them at Cardiff airport.
The gardens still seems confused with roses beginning to flower and other unexpected plants blooming and the grass is still growing. Managed the last cut of the year, but fingers crossed that we do not need more.
Eating chickens are thriving, Cuthbert is still having problems getting all his entourage together, and each evening is a catch me if you can to get all the hens into the coop.
Still the ducks are growing well, and waddle around the paddock as only runner ducks can.
The radio seems to be keeping predators away at the moment so all is good.
Looking forward to having Jan and Iris with us for the week and hope the weather improves enough to do something other than sit in the house
Cheers ...

So, I hate Cardiff Airport. The signs are very misleading and if you go into the drop off area - which I wanted to do as it was the nearest to the terminal and as I saw them further down the car park I went through the barrier which cost me £3, and then had to go through the entrance again - which put me into the road going up the wrong way - and found that I had to go through the pick up area, which cost me another £3..

Was concerned that the CCTV might have caught me going the wrong way or stopping in a restricted area and would give a fine - but think we are clear now ..

Still got them home in good time. Looking forward to the next week with company.

Cheers

15th November 2024 - Pine End

Thought for the day :" My friend stopped working for BMW - he gave no indication that he was going"

Dry

Overnight stay in Llanelli, so off to Fairwood Common to pick up a speaker for Dave that he bought on Facebook. Called yesterday but rand the wrong door bell - there was a recording studio and by the side.

Sound Engineer Barry something - will look up again some time

Back via the shops to get stuff for the Germans arriving tomorrow.

Walked the dogs and did a little more work on the Athelstan Installation for Wednesday, when I install my successor.

Dave and Rhys finally managed to get onto the second Pine end. Have Meshed the wall and brought it out to the same a flat surface and the scratch coat is on. Single layer of limewash on the side walls.

Another week - thinking it is going to be wet at the beginning of next week but we shall see

In other news - learned today that most of the country's multi-storey car parks are going to be unusable in the future. Conversation came out of discussion about the Tinopolis Studios at Llanelli which took over the old Tesco Store and therefore inherited the multi-storey car park which is not open to the public now. Apparently it is built with Rack - so is dangerous anyway along with most car parks of that age.

Then the conversation moved to electric cars and the opinion that due to their extra weight - almost a tone each - the car parks were never built with the expectation of dealing with that amount of weight on each floor - worth thinking about. Food for thought.

Cheers !

14th November 2024 - Trevor Kelway Installation - so leaving Nancy to do the work

Thought for the day: "Did you know that if you hold a Squirrel up to your ear you can hear what it is like to be attacked by a squirrel"

Dry
