24th September 2023 -

Thought for the day :"Useful text message to add to your phone "I am just having one more pint - home in 20 minutes. If not home in 20 minutes read this message again."

Might have had a late night - got back to car at 4am or so - but slept well until 1.45pm...
Day spent in Swansea for the Commemorative Order of Thomas of Accon - a good meeting and as the campsite had no catering - it was a good idea to have a good 4 course meal to keep me going ...

No photos - may have some videos when processed

Cheers !

22nd September 2023 - GuruFest

Thought for the day :"I see people about my age mountain climbing; I feel good just getting my leg through my underwear without losing my balance."

Friday of Guru fest at Candleston - a celebration of the life of Peter Williams - known as Guru for many years - creator of LARP kit, and a great influence upon the development of LARP in the country ...

It was an interesting visit to an old LARP site well know to us - we have done a few weddings there and run various small events at the site ...

Most interesting for me was  that most of the people I was speaking with had been Larpers, and left the game before I even started ...

The site has changed a lot in the intervening time
Here are a few shots

Ready for my set

Cheers !

Thought for the day :"More bad luck in the business world , the Fish Mongers have had to scale down"

A day in the tavern today - no change there - but today it was to practise for the Guru Fest tomorrow

Generally ready for the Weekend..
Will be interesting

20th September 2023 - Apple Pressing

Thought for the day :"I don’t believe in reincarnation. I don’t think it’s possible to come back as a tin of milk."

Toby is still waiting to see if anyone will come !!

But a walk up the Donkey Trail and the river is up at the bridges

Starting more work on the set for Friday Guru Fest - running out of time but will get there

Set up the tavern as a practise studio and looking at the set list

Also cleared the main workshop and can see the worktops again

Borrowed an apples Scratcher and press today - Susie went to friends and showed them how to kill their cockerels and clean them and we are borrowing the kit for the weekend to press the apples for Cider..
Ordered some Cider Yeast and other flavours from LoveBrewing...

Still no news about the John Deere - Grass getting very long ...

Cheers,

19th September 2023 - First Light of the Fire for the year

Thought for the day :"Friend confided that he was dating twins. I asked him how he told them apart. He told me that it was easy, Gillian has bright red nail varnish and matching lipstick and Fred doesn't."

Out for a walk and there are some strange Fungi on the trees

Didn't expect it this early - but it is time to light the fire in the kitchen - and generally allowing heat around the house...   Other thank that it is mainly raining

And Toby is confused - Where are the customers?

Cheers !

18th September 2023 - Recipes for Life

Thought for the day :"I bought a second-hand time machine next Saturday. They certainly don't make them any more like they are going to."

All reactions:

Sunday saw the new 20mph speed limit enter in Wales and it is causing a bit of confusion
As always I aim to assist in informing people

Susie's Gluten Free Bread Rols

Makes 6-8 rolls

120ml water (luke warm)

2 x 7g sachets of fast action dried yeast

1tbsp caster sugar

1tsp xanthum gum

2tsp baking powder

1tsp bicarbonate of soda

20g ground psyllium husks

430g Gluten Free Bread flour (I use Doves Farm)

250ml almond milk or other dairy free milk

2 eggs

3tbsp olive oil

1tsp lemon juice

30-50g mixed seeds (depending on how seedy you like them)

2tbsp sesame seeds for topping (optional)

Almond milk or beaten egg for glazing

  1. Place the yeast in the warm water with the sugar and leave for 5 minutes to froth slightly.
  2. Place the flour in a food processor with the xanthum gum, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and pysllium husks and mix well.
  3. Mix all the wet ingredients together then add with the yeast mixture to the food processor. Beat well to form a moist slightly sticky dough. Stir in the seeds if using.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with cling and leave for 1 hour to rise.
  5. Divide the mixture into 6 or 8 pieces. Shape into rolls and place on a lightly greased baking tray.
  6. Leave for 30 minutes to rise.
  7. Preheat the oven to 200C, Gas mark 6.   Brush the rolls with beaten egg or almond milk then sprinkle with seeds if wished.
  8. Bake in the oven for 20-30 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Allow to cool on a baking tray.

Cheers!
