19th May 2022 - Display Stands for Wine

Thought for the day :"If you could just rehydrate those raisins – that would be grapes"

On the day after soldiers from Mariupal finally decided to allow themselves to be evacuated, and taken to Russia for goodness knows what future - I saw this rather nice little story and thought I would share..

I would like to think that it was true ...

A store that sells new husbands has opened in New York City, where a woman may go to choose a husband. Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the shopper ascends the flights. The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor, or may choose to go up to the next floor, but cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs. She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids. "That's nice," she thinks, "but I want more." So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking. "Wow," she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going. She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework. "Oh, mercy me!" she exclaims, "I can hardly stand it!" Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a Strong Romantic Streak. She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor. This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please. Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
PLEASE NOTE:
To avoid gender bias charges, the store's owner opened a New Wives store just across the street.
The first floor has wives that love sex.
The second floor has wives that love sex, have money and like beer.
The third, fourth, fifth and sixth floors have never been visited.

In other news..

Had a delivery from Lyme Bay today - so decided that I needed to build a display stand - so that was today's project ..

Cheers !

18th May 2022 - starting the Lean-to

Thought for the day :'' Elton John takes his pet rabbit to the gymn with him. It's a little fit bunny''

Forecast was for rain before the end of the day - so we had a busy time trying to get some stuff sorted first.

Susie cleared the slope beneath the septic tank, and put some membrane over to take out the weeds and planted her winter squash.

Susie saw an offer of 6ft high mesh fencing - 20 mtrs on the Rhydlewis buy and sell pages, 3 rolls for £150 locally, and since they come in at about £100 each we decided that I should go and get them, and pick up some sawdust and poultry bedding while I was at it.

When I got back I looked at the weather and decided that it was worth cutting the lawns before they grew any more - and that led to strimming the borders - but it looks good as a result.

And so it was that it was late afternoon when I finally go down to the yurt to start work on the lean-to and Ty bach - but a start was made ...

The basic structure is in place - decided that we would have to bring the loo to the near end as there is no room for the door to open at the other end - but it should be just as usable - and may be better to have the loo more closely available to the door of the yurt.

In other news - there has been another of those apps that draws your face as a painting rather than a cartoon - and though there was a scare that it was a Russian bit of software designed with some nefarious purpose - it seems that Snopes has decided that it does not steal any more data than any other similar app - and probably is not bad to use. The version I had did not ask for access to any of my data - it was an "upload a photo" type - but these were quite effective...

SO - tomorrow is another day. A visit to Vic is booked for the afternoon, so lateral flow tests tomorrow.

Cheers !

17th May 2022 - Cesspit cleared - for the record

Thought for the day :"I'm eating only salads for dinner now. Ok, fruit salads. Only grapes, actually. Fermented grapes, to be specific. Ok wine. I'm only drinking wine for dinner now."

Septic Tank emptied today. I know that is not very interesting - but we have not had it emptied before so I listed it here so I can find when we need to have it done again - and I can search here to find out when we did it. For the record - it cost £195 (No VAT on human waste apparently)

Had to pop down the road a couple of times to touch up the sign which is only chalk so the rain is having an effect. May have some liquid chalk later in the week but we will see.

Some Solar lights with panel and battery arrived today - only ordered yesterday so that is good ..

4 x 2watt led lights and should last 24 hours on a single bulb or 6 hours for 4 - but it is unlikely that four would be on at a time - charged by solar or mains - rather pleased with the unit

Was wet for much of the day so did not get on with the lean - to - but ordered stock from Lyme Bay - decided to do the full wine tasting experience again so will have to build a wine frame again with the bottles stacked and tasters behind.... Just another task.

Susie started bringing up her dahlias, and has cleared the slope for some veg and has done more work in the greenhouse. No peacock eggs today - the rat having taken the last ones  which is sad. I see from the memories that this was the day that they started laying last year.

Not much else achieved today - so tomorrow is another day ..

Cheers !
